Thursday afternoon my sister's 80 year old friend opened her door to a young man she knew. This fellow had done work for her several years. He ask for change for a $100 bill. He had a friend with him. She was getting the change when he ask if they could borrow her car. She said "no" and the young man grabbed her in a choke hold, demanding her car keys. Thankfully my sister's friend had a taser gun her son-in-law had given her. It was in her pocket. She pointed it at the young men and when they saw the red dots appear on their clothing, they ran.
Next I will tell about my recent fall out of my attic:-(
Oh no! Thank goodness she had that taser gun! (Rob)
ReplyDeleteSounds scary, I'm glad she was okay and the taser gun was enough to send them running.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord...who can we trust these days?
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to see a post from you again - even on such a scary subject. Sadly the people we know often ARE the biggest danger. I am so glad that she had a taser and that it deterred them.
ReplyDeleteGood that she had the smarts to be situational aware and prepared.
ReplyDeleteScary. They thought they could take advantage of her and found out otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHey, you have been missed. What a story and thank goodness she had the taser. What is wrong with people today trying to rob an 80 year old?
ReplyDeleteFalling out of your attic does not sound good. Let us know how you are doing.
It's true, danger doesn't always come from strangers. Thank goodness she is okay.
ReplyDeleteOh! My God!!! How terrifying for that lady. And how brave and quick-thing she was. She is my hero!
ReplyDeleteThe shocking episode must have really rattled her, though. I do hope she is okay. And, I hope those arse-holes get what they deserve!!!
That's a concerning story. I hope she followed up with a report to police.
ReplyDeleteA fall from the attic does not sound good.
Lovely to see you back.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful story hope she is OK after such a traumatic experience.
Can't buy tasers in the UK as they are treated like a firearm & are illegal. Thank goodness they are or every idiot here would have one not just vulnerable people for self defence!
Glad to see you back here. I finally got my computer to work and I can leave messages.
ReplyDeleteThe message to this story:
YIKES that is awful!
sandie
Because she is 80 years old and the boys are young, the police say it is her word against them and no charges have been filed yet. This is an atrocity because she is a kind, loving, caring person who was trying to do a good deed and the police can't believe such a person exits. I hope someone will start a petition in her favor to present to the police department.!!!
ReplyDeleteHow atrocious!!!! Talk about discrimination!!!!!
DeleteI hope a petition is underway! I'm gobsmacked...and angry...she has been treated this way. If something happens to this lady from the trauma caused to her...the police, as well as the two youths will be culpable...and they should receive deserved punishment!!
Alright Grandma! Good for her pro-active ability. Glad this was not a horrible victim outcome! That guy will think twice before considering elderly marks again! Hope he learns. Hope she was able to get the cops on his trail.
ReplyDeleteSee the petition part now- Wow, they are hopefully deterred in the future!
ReplyDeletegood to see you posting again, wish you would be a bit more careful with your flight training.
ReplyDeleteGood for the granny, she took the situation in hand.
OMG! thats scary!
ReplyDeleteThe two young men were captured and are in jail. They plead guilty and are charged with a robbery/assault felony. Thankfully my friend will not have to go through a trial.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! How scary. None of us wants to think that people can be so evil. What would have happened if she hadn't had the stun gun, you wonder?
ReplyDeleteThis is scary. Very scary.
