Memorial Day. It's supposed to be a day of remembrance, but it works out to be a holiday to welcome the beginning of summer. People spend time with each other without requiring that one person create fancy meals or buy presents, etc. It's just a good time to be with your friends and family.
I don't think I have a favourite holiday. Boxing Day perhaps. All the fuss over Christmas is over, and I can point hungry people at the fridge to forage on left-overs and settle down with a book.
I think 4th of July ends up more fun. So many people I know have died on Thanksgiving, plus missing passed parents makes it tougher to enjoy for me. At least I had it off plus a dinner to go to.
When our girls were little I would've said it was a toss up between Halloween and Christmas. Now that they're grown women, I would say any holiday that I don't have to do anything special for. I don't have the energy anymore.
Christmas, all of it! Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day.
My absolutely detested time is Halloween! It's a recent thing that's been imported. I hate it with all the children "begging" in the streets! My husband thinks I'm a bit like Scrooge but I can't help how I feel about what's such a horrible night to me.
