LOST HOPE by Granny Annie
Her name was Trixie. It often seemed that she was the queen of domestic violence. Her most recent outburst caused Bud to enroll the two of them in a unique retreat for couples with common problems such as theirs.
The group met in a scenic outdoor location. They sat in a circle feeling the warmth of the day. Not far into the first session, Trixie made a blatant and aggressive display of anger. The shocked attendees scattered in all directions. It was obvious Trixie and Bud had serious issues to overcome.
Bud made every effort to control his wild wife. His feelings were timorous moving toward this ranting woman. Trixie stood ready to take on his challenge. Her ability to compromise was gone and she violently rejected his attempted caress.
The entire debacle was embarrassing. There was a gamut of choices but in her mind, at the moment they were all obsolete. She felt like the lone member of this stupid gathering who had any sense.
Finally Bud knew all hope was gone. He managed to get Trixie in their car. They drove home in silence as he mentally prepared a way to start a new life for himself.
A well written but sad story. I liked that used you used the names "Trixie" and "Bud". 1950's names in a modern day story. (Rob)
ReplyDeleteAll such good words and you worked them in perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw those words, I thought "no way" but you did it again even putting a new spin of an abusive relationship. Well done.
ReplyDeleteSometimes running away is the only option. I hope Bud's escape route works for him.
ReplyDeleteGreat story. As always.
Hope Bud follows through and gets a new life.
ReplyDeleteIt would appear you had no difficulty whatsoever in utilising the words, Annie.
ReplyDeleteWell done. :)
Great story of a toxic relationship. I hope Bud manages to get away and find a happier life.
ReplyDeleteYup...Bud needs to move on with his life.
