LEST WE FORGET

Today is national POW/MIA Recognition Day. Let's join in prayer for all of those who put themselves in harm's way to defend and protect our country.

“The Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Memorial was designated a National Memorial by the U.S. Congress and dedicated September 16, 2005. A bronze statue, sculpted by Vietnam veteran Lewis Lee Millett, Jr. is the image of an American serviceman on his knees and bound by his captors. The statue is surrounded by black marble pillars, representing imprisonment. The memorial honors the over 607, 000 U.S. prisoners of war and 170,000 servicemen and women listed as missing in action since the Revolutionary War.”

  2. How horrible for the families to have a loved one MIA. And being a POA is unthinkable. I am glad they have this tribute.

  4. Such high numbers. Tragic. For them and for their loved ones.

  5. We should not right them off as a piece of history as one candidate has done. Those that came home brought many scars and holes in their soul and we should be responsible for that and pay with taxpayer money to help them.

  6. I did not know there was a special day to honor them. I hope more is done soon to stop so many suicides by returning veterans.

  7. My mom's first cousin was KIA and his body never came home. It is & was so tragic and sad. More attention should be paid to our military..I grew up as an air force brat and patriotism is instilled deep in my heart. It angers me to see some of things I see today, but mostly I just feel sad that so many seem to take our freedom for granted. If they only knew.

  9. The numbers are staggering. Terri says it well. Too many just don't understand the price that so many paid.
