Question of the Week, 2-1-16
DO YOU KNOW YOUR HERITAGE?
(Later today I will post the first of my portraits for the 29 Faces challenge)
I know that my maternal grandparents came from different parts of the Ukraine and met on the boat over here. There is English on my father's side, perhaps some Welch. and some family controversy about whether or not there is an Irish streak. I think it would be very interesting to have the DNA test done. My son was recently diagnosed with Dupuytren's which might indicate some Viking blood somewhere in the mix.
A mongrel mixture is all I know. Neither of my parents were truth tellers. There is English, German and I think Polish and French. And that is all I know.
I know way back on my father's maternal side. English/Irish/Scotch. As for the rest not much. Dad and I have talked about this,(he says grandpa's side is all Irish drinkers and horse thieves... I'm going to have him do the DNA test, it will be interesting to know either way.
There's an awful lot of Irish in me with a tiddly little bit of Scottish blood as well lol What about you Annie - where did your ancestors come from? Take care Cathy
I know nothing about my background. I was adopted at 2 weeks old from a hospital in London. That's all I know.

ReplyDeleteI bought my daughter a DNA kit for Christmas. Maybe she can give me a clue. I know my immediate heritage is 99% Italian American.

ReplyDeleteThe earliest date on my genealogy is 849 A.D. and was in Scotland. Yes, I do know my heritage.

ReplyDeleteMostly Irish/English with a smidgen of Scotch and French. Most of us are mutts.
