THUMB SUCKING

Question Of The Week, 3-16-15

  1. The first habit I had to confront was thumb sucking. I was eight years old before I quit that one and I still can't remember how I did it. Next was smoking and it took a heart attack to kick that habit. Now over eating is the habit I'm working on.

  3. I was a thumbsucker until 6 or 7 and I still feel some shame about that and do not know why. Nail biting was a difficult habit to break and I think it replaced my thumbsucking. Working on procrastination as we write.

  4. Smoking...that was a big one for me. Smoked for 37 years and have now been smoke free for 17 years yahoo.

  5. I savaged my nails until I was in my twenties.
Rather a lot of habits still need work.

  7. Still working on most of mine lol
Nails grow nails get nibbled - ''safe food gets bought and eaten, unsafe food' gets bought and eaten.
I did see my sister with just the tip of her thumb on her lips last year - she turns 65 this year. I'm not sucking my thumb and anyway it helps me concentrate while I'm reading was her excuse lol

  8. I probably had to wait nearly 50 years before I broke the habit of biting my fingernails.

  9. i did not seem to fall into any of the normal habits that most people talk about, but there is one that may be more of a life choice than a habit, for i speak out things i see, even when i know it will not be received or that it will get me into trouble. No i am not going to break that one, even though it wells up in me and comes out with little control.

  10. Probably getting involved with men who are bad for me. :)

Or straightening my hair - I finally let it go curly - so freeing.

  11. Pulling my hair out. Way back in the day I had long hair, which of course I hated, so sub consciously I pulled it out. Now my hair is short and cared for and I no longer feel repulsed by it.

  12. Oh - I love Olga's! I think I mostly have quit trying to please everyone. I still have a habit of worrying about issues over which I don't have any control. Staying in the present is what I'm trying to achieve but still require constant practice.

  13. Worrying about what others thought of me! Too bad...in the words of Popeye..."I yam what I yam!" :)

Nail chewing until in High School, smoking many years ago.
I used to eat alot of cookies n chips, now I rarely do.

  16. I'm going to have to go with thumb-sucking. I remember walking around with pickled thumbs for much of my childhood.

I honestly can't think of any habits of mine that I want to change at the moment. I'm fortunate enough not to have an addictive personality. Unless you want to count spending a lot of (too much?) time alone as a habit. (I'm going to call it a lifestyle choice and stick with it. ;-)
