MY 50TH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION
|
42 people who haven't changed a bit so why didn't we recognize each other? |
|
Believe it or not, this is our high school English teacher with me. She is 92 years old and was amazing. We were thrilled to have her there because she had been everyone's favorite. |
|
Our DJ Ronnie Kaye a local celebrity from our era. (I posted this for LL Cool Joe) |
|
Our town theater has been restored and they welcomed us for a special showing of 1964 movie GOLDFINGER. Surprisingly no couples sat on the back row of the balcony to make out during the movie. We really are old! |
It was an overwhelming party filled with happiness, sadness, nostalgia, and fun.
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself! How cool that your teacher was there, she looks AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteHEARTINHAND, she did look amazing and was in excellent health. We all hope to look as good at 92.
DeleteIt looks like your reunion was a real success. My 50th is next year in Tulsa.
ReplyDeleteJEANIE,oh I hope I can get to see you when you are there. I will try to make every effort. Wouldn't that be fun?
Deleteglad you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDelete92? wow, she looks fabulous..
SONNY, I felt very good for the trip but I did wear me out and I could have enjoyed it more if I had just been younger. LOL
DeleteHow wonderful you could go and that teacher does not look that old!
ReplyDeleteCHANGESINTHEWIND, our teacher was very encouraging to all of her students and supported us in every endeavor. He was highly instrumental in my poetry writing business
DeleteSo glad you went as it worked out for you. I got all the same feelings from my much smaller reunion. What luck to get to see a favorite teacher!!
ReplyDeleteTABOR, how many students were in your graduating class? We had slightly over 100 in ours so that was a pretty good attendance.
DeleteI always have a blast at my reunions so I am very pleased for you that you got to go!! That teacher hardly looks older than most of your class!! Ask her the secret.
ReplyDeleteKENJU, since you are local are you one of the reunion planners each time and how many high school reunions have you attended?
DeleteThat is just so cool - I would love to go to my reunion!
ReplyDeleteCHA TTYL CRONE, you should go to at least one. .Would it be very far away?
DeleteCongrats on your 50th class reunion.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a joy for you to see your favorite teacher.
GIGIHAWAII, to see our English teacher was a highlight of the trip for many of us.
DeleteI am glad you had such a fun time.
ReplyDeleteOLGA.HEBERT, fun but exhausting!
DeleteI went to my 20th but skipped my 25th. It was crazy because nobody really did change all that much. There were people there that I went to kindergarten with and they still look the same. (OK, add some wrinkles and weight.)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun and got to see one of your teachers. That is so cool.
DITCHINGTHEDOG, I'm afraid none of our group look like kindergartners. Lol
DeleteClass of 64, you are such puppies. Good looking group and that teacher looks amazing. How neat that she was also a favorite
ReplyDeleteARKANSAS PATTI, puppies? Hardly more like old dogs and no more tricks. Lol
DeleteHey thanks for the photo, it's always good to see a fellow dj. Was he good? What did he play?
ReplyDeleteYour teacher looks amazing for 92! Wow.
LL COOL JOE, ,I thought you would like seeing our DJ. He was a an announcer on a favorite radio station in the 60s. Since we graduated in 64 the Beatles were just coming on the scene so we didn't have any Beatles songs. But I can tell you that they danced the twist a whole lot. Lol
DeleteThis is so sweet. I love it that Goldfinger was playing for you! I feel like watching it right now.
ReplyDeleteIt is fabulous that your English teacher attended!
If my class ever has another reunion maybe I'll go to it. We were not a close group to begin with, and now...what a bunch of strangers.
KERRY, seeing strangers there is the hardest part at first and then they slowly morph into the faces you remember.
DeleteWhat fun! Your English teacher looks amazing. Did you gals do any gossiping?
ReplyDeleteBARB, ,not having time to gossip was the hardest part!
DeleteLove that class pic! Why is there always someone who looks so familiar that you can not recall a name for? Senior moments I guess! It's just that so much has happened since then, n the brain storage is crammed with newer things-
ReplyDeleteThe only teacher from my Catholic Parochial school seen since school was at my Mom's funeral- a priest. Most of the nuns were ancient already when I was in school.
Good that so many attended yours, the teacher is amazing, n the movie sounds like a good time too...
SNAGGLE TOOTH, no one could believe that I had never seen the movie Goldfinger. I did enjoy it but James Bond was never one of my favorites.we started out with lots of chatter and laughter in the theatre and soon we all went quiet and I knew it wasn't the movie capturing us. It was the memories I'm sure
DeleteI'm so glad you had a good time! Love that big smile!
ReplyDeleteLYNN, what smile? There were 42. Lol
DeleteWow ! Amazing reunion pictures ! GA we are having our 50th High School reunion next year !
ReplyDeleteRAM, so no 50th until next year. Guess you're just a kid. :-)
DeleteWow - that is amazing! Especially having your favorite English teacher present. I'm laughing at no one taking advantage of the movie darkness, Annie! ;)
ReplyDeleteTALON, not even one couple was brave enough to go to the back row of the balcony!wow we are old!
DeleteGlad you had a good time. I would say I'd hope to live long enough to see my 50th high school reunion, but I'd rather live long enough to be your English teacher :-)
ReplyDeleteCUBE, we were all very envious of her and knew the clean living and vital spirit that took her to that place of youth.
DeleteLove that you had a great time, and how wonderful to have a favorite teacher there as well.
ReplyDeleteBRIGHID, he must have done something right because there was a very prestigious amount of successful careers represented there.
Deletesounds like a great time was had by all
ReplyDeleteBRITE MIST, by most but I'm sure there were some disappointed folks attending.
DeleteAmazing! Time flies so quickly. It's a funny surprise to me that seeing signs of my friends' aging process only makes them more dear to me. I can't explain it, but I'm happy that it's my natural reaction.
ReplyDeleteSPARKLING RED, obviously you're still quite young! Lol
DeleteI think that sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteRIOT KITTY, some awesome plus a lot of awkward. Getting reacquainted is quite a challenge
DeleteArt Deco....I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a ball, Annie...and I'm glad you did. :)
How wonderful to catch up with a past teacher like that...great!
LEE, do you have any stories about entertaining class reunion?
DeleteThat surely must have been one of your most memorable days. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned this on my blog. So glad you enjoyed it - they can be traumatic.
ReplyDeleteKudos to your splendid teacher.
92 wow...your former teacher looks amazing young!
