FAR AND WIDE

Question Of The Week 7-14-14

WHAT
MAKES
YOU
ANGRY?

24 comments:

  1. People who are rude for no reason (immediately came to mind.)

  2. Cruelty - any cruelty. And intolerance. And prejudice. And selfishness. And greed.
And rather a lot of other things too - though I do try hard NOT to be angry.

  3. lies and liars.. and if you call them on it- they get mad and very offended..

  4. Anyone who hurts my kids or partner.

  5. Finding out I have wasted energy doing something some one else undoes - Like at work when I empty a rack to use n someone just takes it.

Plus all three of the above!

Guess I get my dander up easily...

  6. Littering...beyond all reason. I mean I am against the death penalty generally, but would consider it for litterers.

  7. Listening to all the political rhetoric we are subjected too, regardless of political parties or affiliations. With all these new words we are adding to our dictionary on a yearly basis, perhaps we should make room for even more new words by deleting words like "truth" or "integrity"! (Did I just get angry?) :)

  8. I have to agree with most of the above and add an extra vote for people who are rude.

  9. People taking advantage of others.

  10. Disrespect more than anything.

  11. Unfortunately some days just about everything!!! I am working on it.

  12. Since I'm working on the gracious older lady thing I shall refrain from mentioning a specific.
    Dang this is hard...

  13. Manipulative people who pose as victims to get what they want.

  14. Cruelty to animals or children is a biggie that makes me see red. Better throw in the idiots that start forest fires deliberately. All three are hanging offences in my book.

  15. Can't get me riled too easily. I don't like cruelty though.

  16. I'm with Arkansas Patti. There's NO reason ever to be cruel.

Re your comment: Oh, we knew...LOL
She was a terrific kid and a wonderful woman/mother.

  17. Watching the coarseness of society angers me. How have we gotten this bad so fast is a mystery to me. The worst part of it is that most young people don't know what we're talking about...

Off topic: I missed the boat on one of your previous posts so forgive me for bringing it up here.

As a biology major, I'm surprised at how much I remember favorites from Hamlet (Act 3, Scene 1) and Macbeth Act 5, Scene 5), but I wanted to bring something, perhaps out of the ordinary, that has always remained with me all these years: the last four lines from Philip Freneau's "The Wild Honeysuckle:

"If nothing once, you nothing lose, For when you die you are the same; The space between, is but an hour, The frail duration of a flower."

While we try to think there must be a reason for the rudeness of people, sometimes they are just born that way.

    Elephant's Child
We see or hear of cruelty and it shatters the mind. How do some situations even come about.

    Sonny
Telling lies is a way of life for some people.

    LL Cool Joe
Me too. I always felt I could generate enough adrenaline to save my children if push came to shove. We never want to see our loved ones threatened.

    Snaggle Tooth
Yes that has happened to me before and it does let the anger boil to the top. Everyone is hitting home with their comments.

    Olga Hebert
It is amazing in this day and time with all we know that we still see people carelessly toss trash on the ground for someone else to pick up.

    Alan Ginocchio
I get angry that anyone thinks bi-partisanship even exists.

    Jeanie
Everyone can probably agree with rudeness being offensive. I can understand why some persons have to drive slowly on the highway but what I can't understand is why they can't pull over and let the line of traffic go around them when there is quite a build up. Obviously there are no passing opportunities so they could lighten everyone’s load by taking a minute to pull off the road.

    Changes in the wind
You mean like doing a small favor and demanding an overwhelmingly large one

Often it seems that “disrespect” is easier to gain than “respect” is.

    Tabor
    Me too:)

    Brighid
I think I want to be a crazy, batty, ungracious older lady. It doesn't take as much practice.

    Scarlet
Bless your heart. You have certainly seen your share of these type of people.

    Arkansas Patti
Hang em' high Patti. I'll help.

    Barb
That is because you live in such peaceful surroundings:)

    kenju
You can join the lynch mob with me and Arkansas Patti.

    Cube
“Coarseness of society” is a good description of what seems to be transpiring. Thanks too for sharing your favorite memory quote. It's a good one.

    Munir
If we listen to the news, meanness and cruelty do seem to abound.

  21. Work: People who stubbornly maintain the status quo in the face of mounting evidence that doing it another way actually increases production and/or morale.

Personal: Anyone who touches my family, physical and non-physical.

  23. People who wallow in self pity and don't try to help themselves.
