IT IS HERE!

My book arrived in the mail and I felt like Steve Martin in the movie THE JERK running around yelling "The new phone books are here, the new phone books are here!"
I will not go into a lot of detail right now except to say this is very exciting.  Susan Adcox of About.com Grandparents has invited me to review her new book, STORIES FROM MY GRANDPARENT.  It is going to be fun to complete this journey for my grandchildren and provide an heirloom for them about their heritage.  Thankfully Susan has given the grandparent freedom to X out what doesn't fit them and work the telling to suit their own life.  This experience will also be shared by me on my Facebook pages so stay tuned my friends and I will try to keep you updated from time to time.  Thank you Susan for selecting me as one of your reviewers.  I am honored.

Thanks! I am anxious to get started. I showed the book to my granddaughter Beth this weekend and said, "Isn't this cool?" and she looked at me strangely. Then I said, "I get to write about things in my past for you to read." and she became very excited. She said, "Oh, I thought it was a book someone else had written about their life as a grandparent."

It is going to be difficult to write in it for the first time because almost everyone makes fun of my handwriting. I will have to be very careful to write legibly.

I intend to. It might be something Rylan and Julia would enjoy having you do someday.

  8. What an awesome idea for a book. So much of my family's past has been lost with the passing of my parents generation.

    She chose you well.

This reminds me, I have a couple of Mother books to fill out.
Such a great idea! I'd have loved to receive such a gift from my own grandmothers. Your grandchildren will be grateful, crazy handwriting or not!

  13. What a brilliant idea. I never knew my grandparents - on either side, and feel the loss.

It is something I have wanted to do, so having this guideline to follow will make it happen, I think.

That is the main reason I want to do it. I have a lot of information, but if I don't write it down, it will get lost I fear.

The information will have to be fresh and well as entertaining for my grandchildren and I hope it might inspire at least one to take some interest is holding family memories close.

My grandmother kept many journals and I have several of them, but few if any pages can be read because of her handwriting. Hopefully I can do a little better job.

This does go past me to my parents and that will be something I will totally enjoy writing about. There is a lot for my grandchildren to know about their great-grandparents.

I was very fortunate to have both sets of my grandparents until I was married and had great-grandchildren for them to see.

You've got that right. An assignment of love.

I will try to give a fair description of how it works and how I will adapt it to fit my family.

Yes, Beth didn't think it would be interesting to read stories of someone else.

I think so to. I am still horrified about making the first ink mark in the book.
