MOON-SET

February 14, 2014 we had the most gorgeous full Harvest moon.  My surveillance camera was not pointed in the right direction to capture this beauty but in the morning on the 15th the night vision did catch that moon saying goodbye.  The video at the end is the sounds of morning on NOL-NOC Estates.

  1. This sounds just like the farm I grew up on in Colorado. The train passed just to the edge of our field and soon we even failed to notice it sound because we got so used to it.

  3. A sleepy moon retreats. I'm in the city and I've been hearing trains at night.

  4. Very nice capture. I also grew up with the sounds of trains in the not too far off background.

  6. How very beautiful. And thank you for reminding me about the joy of a train running 'through your yard'. I miss it still.

    Good moon shots.

  9. So beautiful and peaceful. I love the sound of a train. The train runs about 1.5 miles from my home and I can hear it if I listen for it. I've almost gotten to used to the sound of the train whistle in the distance.

Thanks Rob, it's not all that good of a picture but better than I can do with my regular camera.

I don't think of it often and that was why hearing it on the video made me realize how much I love the sound

It is funny how we don't often think of the moon setting, just the rising. The sound of the train helped depict the loneliness of the departing moon.

We all can hear the trains more in the winter months because the leaves are off the trees. As the spring and summer brings back the foliage we hear them a lot less due to the thick insulation of the full branches.

It delighted me to see these pictures on the surveillance camera but the video is much better than trying to capture stills.

Our small Kansas town (pop. 67) didn't provide much to do but drive Ron's old truck down to the railroad tracks and watch/listen to the trains. The link hit home:) Thanks

The train is only a couple of miles away so it is practically coming through our yard.

    That is what I say.

You can see that I am getting a bit addicted to it. lol

It does become such a part of our lives that we simply accept it but would miss the sound if it went away.

  12. How nice to have such delightful photos as you sleep. A bright moon and the lonesome whistle of a train, makes me want to hit the road.

  14. That's time for me to get in some sleep before work another night- Nice sounds- I'm reminded of the Johnny Cash song, "Folsom Prison Blues" I can play, which mentions "I'll let that lonesome whistle--- blow my blues away-..."

We have a "Cape Flier" train, not very often in winter tho does week-ends all summer.
