DAYS LIKE THIS

This is what is happening in our neck of the woods.  Last Wednesday thousands of bass fishermen began to pour onto The Grand Lake of the Cherokees for this event.  Even if Ron and I were in the best of health, we wouldn't have ventured to the south side of the lake for anything.

Today we turn our attention to the Oscars where we will once again see my god-daughter Jessi as she enters on the red carpet for what I believe is the 5th year. Here she is last year. (To your right of the lady in the green dress.) Another year of playing "Where's Waldo Jessi".
You may think the winning fisherman or the Hollywood stars are the center of this weekend, but I know the only champion is Jessi:)

  1. Okay, I've been dying to ask this question: What is the big deal about the "Bassmaster Classic"?

I mean, even ESPN is covering this event.

    All it is is fishing.

    Fishing.

Okay, I'm going to stop my rant 'cause I can feel the rumblings of a longer rant growing within that might make a nifty blog post.

  2. I guess I'll have to let you watch and tell us about it. As you know I have a problem with the so called stars and their self proclaimed greatness. I suppose it takes some talent to memorize a line that the real 'star' who wrote it came up with. Best wishes to your God Dauther and her evening.

  3. G.B. Miller -- Oh yes, but golf is such an exciting sport.... Guess fishermen just don't have enough balls.

Cliff -- I know how you feel so thank for wishing Jessi well anyway. She works for the Academy and they keep her in bread and butter. I know you like bread and butter:)

  5. Yeah for your God-daughter. I hope it all goes well for her.
I have never been to a bass fishing tournament, but I spent lots of time on Grand Lake when I was growing up-great memories.

  8. You must be so proud of her.

As for the fishing, I used to love it but haven't gone in ages. However I can't imagine enjoying it in such freezing temps.

  12. Absolutely - that's exciting that you can watch for her. I'll look out for her, too. :)

    Fishing, not so much. :)

  13. Always Nesting -- She greatly resembles her mother who was my closest friend.

Jeanie -- I love living here because I too spent many hours on Grand Lake as a child. My grandparents had a cabin here and so many wonderful memories.

Sonny -- Well, I didn't see her but she texted me when they started in and I sure watched closely. In the next few days we will get to seen photos others captured of her walk.

    Munir -- Missed her:(

Mountain Mama -- Yes so proud! About the fishing, these people had freezing rain and snow the first two days so they have to have a few loose screws.

Riot Kitty -- Jessi works for the Academy of Arts and Sciences and is their Vault Coordinator.

Chatty Crone --The pre-show is about the only place to get to see her. She isn't a movie star (though she should be). She works for the Academy.

kenju -- Well, did you enjoy it? Yikes, that "We've seen your boobs" song was horrible. I watched the red carpet entrances and after the show started with that bomb, I turned it off.

Lynn -- It's fun to watch, though I've only caught her entrance live one time. We always get pictures afterward.

  14. So cool! I bet Jessi has amazing Oscar tales to share, Annie!

It's hard to imagine anything but ice fishing around here right now...and I can't wait to see the ice disappear and know that Spring is really really close.
