WHO LET THE DOG IN...WHO, WHO?

Slim wanted out in the middle of the night.  I got up and let her out. When I got up at 4:00 am she was barking to come in. I opened the door and called to her, but she did not come in.  The computer awaited me and I began my morning schedule of  blogging, reading blogs. commenting, playing words with friends, etc.  Around 6:00 am Slim came bounding into the living room.  Ron must be up now I thought.  He did not come into the kitchen so I went to check on him.  He was sleeping soundly.  Well, Slim must have pushed open the den door and let herself in.  Nope, the den door was locked, deadbolt and all.  When Ron did get up, I asked him if he got up and let Slim in.  He swears he did not.  Slim must have her own key now.

Or maybe it was the cosmic effects of the moon...

  2. Could it be that you didn't quite close the door properly?

  3. Chatty Crone -- You have certainly said exactly what I fear. LOL

LL Cool Joe -- I checked all the doors and they were shut and locked!

  4. it was the moon - or she has gotten as smart as my cat (who is gone, but lived 18 years as and indoor/outdoor) I saw him open the door - it was way too much for me!

  5. Maybe Slim has a secret passage. I have seen dogs learn to open a door.

  6. Whitemist -- You certainly had some cat!!I have seen Slim push open a door that wasn't properly closed but never one that was locked and closed tight. Yep, it had to be the moon.

Tabor -- Well you raised a good idea and I actually went and checked the crawl space that opens under the steps to the den. The opening was closed very securely.

  7. Here's where we look at each other and one of us starts with the theme from the Twilight Zone. do do dodo do do dodo...

  9. That's pretty freaky. I've heard of some clever dog tricks, but never teleporting.

Sorry to have blindsided you with my last post. I didn't think that through at all. Next time I'll post a warning first. You weren't the only one I inadvertently triggered. Please accept my sincere apologies.

  12. Maybe you were sleeping n just dreamt you let Slim out-
Or sleep-walked to let her in n don't remember it!

  13. Cliff -- But whose memory in our house is not very good? It had to be Ron because Slim came from the direction of the den which is near our bedroom. I was at the other end of the house. Of course I could have let her in earlier and forgotten and when I was trying to get her to come inside, she was already in and sleeping soundly. Or it is that Twilight Zone thing.

Lynn -- Well it could be scary if we all weren't friends. Now if a bear had appeared in the house -- that would be scary indeed.

Sparkling Red -- You got it...teleporting...of course! And hey, don't worry about the other thing. We all react differently to many things.

Riot Kitty -- Yep I'm with you on the key thing. Only problem is where does she carry a key? No pockets, but let's not speculate.

    sonny -- Amen!

Snaggle Tooth -- Well I have been known to sleep walk... Once my first husband returned home in the night to find me sitting up in bed, sound asleep, pointing a gun at him. (Yes, I was asleep...I swear...sound asleep...of course:)

  14. That's kind of creepy. I remember when I was about 14, our cat always stayed in the basement overnight in the winter time. We put her down there one night, locked the door and put the chain on the door. When my parents got up the next morning the door was open and the cat was on the counter waiting to be fed. We never figured it out because no one had let the cat in either.
