QUESTION OF THE WEEK...11-18-2024
How do you deal with someone in a position of power who wants you to fail?
Confront them. I never cared if you out ranked me when I working. I said my piece although respectfully. Then I try to distance myself as much as possible. Usually these folks don't last very long. I was always amazed they didn't get it.
In other words, a bully. My strategy was always to minimize or eliminate (if possible) any power or control they might have over me. Quit a job, move out of their circle, cut ties with them, do what I had to do. I was never in a position where direct confrontation was possible or feasible.
By ignoring what I could tell were jibes meant to hurt me and just getting on with my job. Until the day I actually did quit even though she believed I wouldn't.
