Basically Everything About Thanksgiving Is a Lie
You know that happy meal between Native Americans and the Pilgrims where everyone bonded? Well, the real story of Thanksgiving is awful, and actually consisted of plagues and violence and murder. Also, there's no evidence turkey was actually served—or that native people were invited to the meal.
At this point I feel like everything I've learned about history is a lie. :/

ReplyDeleteSigh. The fictional version is lovely. I am sad to learn it isn't true.
ReplyDeleteSo many of our traditions, even those that are religious are based on lies.
ReplyDeleteKind of sad. I like the fictional version better too.
ReplyDeleteIt was very different, i've read some of the truer accounts.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day things will be different...when man decides to start caring for his fellow man.

Yup. I did know about this. Whenever we had Thanksgiving celebrations at our school, I had my kids wear pilgrim hats and not dress as Native Americans for which it was NOT a Thanksgiving at all.
