YOU'RE UNDER ARREST

Question Of The Week 10-01-18

If the police take you in for questioning and you haven't done anything would you answer their questions or would you remain silent and ask for an attorney?

(Can you tell that I watch a lot of crime shows? LOL)

  3. Like Jan, I have seen a lot of cases where the police have decided beforehand who is guilty. If it were something serious and I was a suspect I would want a lawyer.

  4. Being taken in for questioning and being arrested are not the same thing. The seriousness of the investigation would have a large effect on my answer. One thing I would ask is, "Am I under arrest?" But my answer generally is that I would want counsel.

  6. Depends on why they wanted to question me. If i were simply a witness and they knew it, i'd answer questions. If there's any possibility i'm a suspect, i want a lawyer.

  7. This might depend on which city you’re in.

  8. I live in a good-ole-boy Republican county where our sheriff used to arrest young women when he was a cop and trade their tickets for favors...I'd ask for an attorney.

  9. I would answer their questions unless it got nasty then I'd request a lawyer. There are innocent people in prison after all.

  13. I would be brutally honest about the answers, n not embellish additional info, unless I was a witness to someone they need to catch.

  14. I watch those shows, too. I would cautiously answer questions at first.

  15. I've watched way too many police & forensic shows to say a word without an attorney.
