WHERE ARE THEY

Lately, I have been going through my Roller Blog on my sidebar wondering about my blog friends who have simply dropped by the wayside.  Sadly, I did learn that one has died and that makes me wonder if the same fate has befallen others.

I also wonder how many simply abandoned Blogger for Facebook. A few said they were leaving because they were no longer inspired.  Many had changed their blogs to private. Surprisingly I found two who were still blogging but their updates had stopped appearing like Tabor's did for a while.  It is sad that I didn't go back and look for them earlier.

What are your plans for announcing your departure if you leave Blogger? Do you have someone who will post on your behalf if you shuffle off this mortal coil? Guess I could call this post my second Question Of The Week for this week.  Inquiring minds...

  1. I don't have a plan sadly....I will try to advise if I am sick and unable to post or have decided to give up......if I'm not here for a long long time then I guess it will be safe to assume I'm dead. Of course, if my computer dies.........

  2. I started blogging in 2005 and can't count the active bloggers who just stopped with no warning. Strange...

  3. We have no plans to stop blogging in the near future. We hope that we continue to feel inspiration for telling the tale! (Rob)

  4. I'm a blogger, n will never voluntarily go! I did sign up to FB last week because my phone would not upload pics of my 2 new great nieces who arrived last week... Now i'm avoiding all that FB clicking again!I don't have that time...

  5. No plans to leave just yet. And I have no plans (yet) to alert people if I do leave for my next big adventure. I should.

  6. If I voluntarily stop blogging then I will publish a farewell post. If I croak--I really have no plans. Hum.

  7. Since i have been blogging since almost the beginning of blogging time I do wonder what happens to people when they just disappear. Usually I will leave a comment asking if they are okay. Usually it goes unanswered. If I don't see a post in over a year I will delete them off my blogging lol. I think leaving a final post is the decent thing to do, especially when you have been blogging for a number of years and have formed friendships. I will have to leave a note in my will about my blog just in case.

  8. No plans yet. I'm hoping I get some notice before I pop my clogs.
I did what you did & managed to track down a few, I emailed a couple. Yes some have just moved on to Facebook & others just stopped. I'm finding it more difficult using a tablet it's not so easy as it takes longer but I'm struggling on.

  9. I'd publish a goodbye if I planned on quitting, but if I kick the bucket suddenly I would hope 'no-one' would put something up saying I was gone. After she got over it of course.

  10. i have thought about this. My family do not read my blog since I do this anonymously. I like it that way. I am actually far more honest on Facebook, but also more political. That way, when I meet up with friends and family, we do or do not talk politics because they know where I stand. My bloggers on the other hand, don't really want to read more of that stuff. I will leave a list of passwords and ask that they at least let readers know. I also have been blogging a Loooong time and lost a lot of readers, sadly.

  11. As you know, I've recently curtailed my Blogger blogging after 9 1/2 years and I intend to make it a monthly blog. I did write a thoughtful post about why I was cutting down to a monthly and where I can be found on a weekly basis.

I don't think I'll disappear entirely, but general purpose blogging has now decidedly taken a backseat to my writing. And at some point, I will start leaving a sealed envelope on both of my computers with details on how to access each, as they are both password protected.

  13. When I take the leap there is no one to make the announcement on my blog. Remy and Shama, my two furry mates refuse to learn how to type. So if I fly off into the wide blue yonder when they're still alive, don't count on them to spread the word! :)

  14. Well, I'm one of your blog friends who has gone private. However, I did announce my departure so people wouldn't wonder. One of my blog friends died in a car accident and I learned about it from another blog friend who lived near her. It was a shock since she wasn't ill. I'm thinking of starting to write publicly again, but I haven't made the final decision. I'll let you know if I do.

  15. Back when I was getting spammed sorta spammed, I dunno what they were doing but it was driving me nuts, I had to disconnect my blog but the only way for me to figure how to do that, was go private. But really, no one was able to read it. So I emailed the people that I had their emails to let them know.

Now, my last recent break, I didn't disconnect the blog. I didn't even know that I was going to be gone for a few weeks. It just unfolded that way.

If I died, Tim would come on and let people know and I would do the same with his accounts.

Sorry you lost your blogger buddy.

  16. I noticed someone's blog went private, too - I wonder if she is posting on the blog at all. I see her on facebook regularly though.

I don't have a plan for my blog, but did designate my sister Jo to let people know on facebook if something happened to me.
