GOOD BREAD

Question Of The Week 3-14-16

WHAT WAS THE LAST LIE YOU TOLD?

I have a precious friend who cannot cook.  The last thing she brought me was homemade bread and I told her it was good.  Although it probably will mean more bread to come, it seemed the right thing to say:-)

  1. I would call that a tactful kindness, not a lie.

  2. I never lie.

There you go, that's the last time I lied ;)

  3. HAH! Love this. I think the last time I lied was to a friend who got an unfortunate haircut that she loved but I didn't. I just told her it was cute.

  4. I really don't remember. Which I hasten to say is because I try (not always successfully) not to lie rather than I lie so often I can't remember which was the last.

  5. I never lie outright. Instead, I creatively bend the truth to suit my needs and keep me out of trouble.

  6. I lie to my mother. I tell her I'm going out so she doesn't phone me all the time. One day she left 19 messages on my answer phone in about 20 minutes. If she knows I'm in the house she calls me all day long. If I don't answer she just rings and rings until I do. It's like torture, so for a break I lie and say I'm out for the morning, but she asks me where so I have to lie about where I'm going.

  7. Some lies might be kindness in disguise.

  8. I tend to divert rather than directly lie. Like if I am seeing a sadly homely child for the first time, I might gush over his perfectly shaped ears.

  9. There are times that I really wish I had gone for the white lie rather than blurt out my true opinion!

  10. I don't know. Is that a lie? I think a lie is something we say with malicious intent. Saying her bread is good is a kind thing.

  12. I don't remember. No really, that was the lie. I had full recollection of the transgression in question. But acknowledging it gave it more recognition than it was worth. "Oh, I don't recall that. It musn't have gotten my attention enough to offend me. You are fully forgiven." just seemed like a better way to deal with it.

  13. That's like when Andy, Opie and Barney said they loved Aunt Bea's pickles (which they said tasted like kerosene) and they ate them and gave them away so they'd be gone and then she made more. :)

    Hmm - probably when I told a would-be suitor that I was busy, when I wasn't.

  14. I can't remember. I try not to lie; to not blatantly lie. Like we all do, I might tell a fib once in a while in an effort not to hurt the feelings of another, or cause disharmony.

I'll fib when someone asks me how I am (feeling etc.,) ....If I'm feeling shitty rather than burden others with my complaints or aches and pains etc., I'll give them the answer that all is well...that I am fine and dandy. That's all anyone really needs to know. :)

The majority of the time I'm a straight-shooter. Lying is a waste of time...and it's a foolish habit for a person to be held captive by.

  17. the one I intended to tell was I was calling in "sick" - but the joke was on me as I didn't feel well after trying to take a day off! Guess it wasn't a lie.
Mostly I'm just sarcastic- those are opposites, like at work "This is great!"

  18. Well that was just being tactful. Sometimes the truth hurts & it's best to use a little fib to save a friendship.

  19. The most common form of lying I engage in is claiming ignorance when someone asks me for information that I have but am hiding. This is required in my professional life lately. I hate lying, even by omission, but sometimes it is in fact the best option.

  20. Last lie? Whoa... I have such a bad memory I can't remember. Good thing.

  21. I can't think. That either means I tell so many I can't tell the difference or I am ultra careful to be honest at all times. The choice is yours:)
