PEACE MONGERS

Thank you all for participating in the Veteran's Day Honor Wall that I placed here again and on Facebook for the first time.  This will be an annual event on Veteran's Day on this blog.  It was a privilege for me to type each name and think of you and the love you shared with these Vets from many, many years of service to our country. If you still want the names of other military veterans added to my blog just comment here and I will gladly add them.

When I married Ron and told people he was a retired Navy veteran a fellow commented to me, "Oh you are marrying a war monger!"  As I learned of the many humanitarian things our military does around the world I want to say to that fellow, "These men and women are Peace Mongers." Remember the media only advertises bad deeds but talk to a vet and you will learn that our military mission is as peace keepers.

  1. Your Veteran Honor Roll is a kind, patriotic thing to do. Our veterans
need more help and better medical. Thank you for caring.

  2. I have NEVER heard of someone calling a soldier a "war mongerer." (Now some of our countries leaders (preeminent strike types) could be.) This would be like calling non-religious people devil-worshipers, or conscientious objectors cowards, or cops racists. We do not know what is inside someone who steps up to the plate in their life and we should respect that until actions tell us otherwise, especially those who put their lives on the line.

  3. Well, that fellow showed is true colours...how ignorant and misguided he was...and how extremely rude!

  4. I would agree with Tabor. And some of our Government would certainly fit the label. Despite never having any likelihood of being on the front lines - except for a photo op.

  5. Ooo Navy!
    I forgot Louis D
who I used to work for repairing outboards.

This is an awesome idea you have going!

  6. As a Quaker and a Conscientious Objector I would never even think of calling a soldier/veteran a war monger. Just the opposite. They are the people that let us have our freedom and for that I am deeply grateful. It is a delicate balance deciding to go to war. Avoid it at all costs but there comes a time when the bullies of the world need to be taken down.

  8. I had forgotten about your 'veterans' list Annie. I saw my D, T, S and H vets listed there and realised they were just a few from my very military (on both sides) family. No matter where they come from, and mine are Irish, they all deserve to be recognised. Thanks for that.

  9. I was so touched to see you repost this and I recognized the names I had added last year. I think it is a marvelous way to honor the day.

  11. Sorry I am just getting to these. No matter how we personally feel about wars we should honor the people brave enough to enlist. I come from a peace-loving military family myself.

  13. What an awful thing for that person to say to you. Good grief! My husband was in the Air Force and he's a pacifist, but he believed in serving his country.
