TATTLE TALE

Question Of The Week, January 26, 2015

Have you known (do you know) any dangerous gossipers?
(Have you ever been hurt by malicious gossip?)
It all starts with a listen.

  1. I am not a fan. I am pretty sure some have gossiped about me but were clever enough to hide it so I never knew. Ignorance is bliss.

  2. I spend the winter in a retirement community where you would think the majority of people would be more mature...but, no. It is like being back in junior high if you let it. I don't let it. I am sure that my "snobbishness" is noted though.

  3. Such wicked behavior. I want to know about how folks are doing, but not hear from those who like to paint the bad pictures and pretend they are better than the rest of us. It is sometimes a fine line, but usually not.

  5. Yes - I'm no longer friends with one woman because she would not keep her mouth shut about other people and things that did not concern her. I can't stand a gossip.

I'm not sure if I've been gossiped about, but I probably have. :)

  6. If I have been gossiped about, it went straight past me. And, since I am dullness personified I doubt it.
I like to hear what people are doing - without the malicious (and frequently exaggerated) edge that many gossipers feel is necessary.

It's one of the most hurtful things a person can do.

  9. The middle boss here is always looking for dirt on folks, n drives me nuts. Folks hate working with me because I'm not much of a talker-

  10. I always steer clear of them...always have and always will. I can not stand those who gossip. What they wish to prattle on with is none of my business. It interests me not.

  14. I had a vindictive supervisor who was like that and for years, she would actively torpedo all my reference checks for other job opportunities.

  15. TO ALL: I fear that I am a gossip and believe to some extent or another we all are. I would imagine gossip can also include the spreading of good news. Regardless I fear that one time I repeated something that ended up causing a person to lose their job. It haunts me to this day. I try not to spread or start gossip.

  16. I don't think I've been hurt by malicious gossipers, but then maybe I just didn't know.
