COPY CAT

Lynn at Good Things Happened has talked about about avocado toast.  I am cooking everything these days on my waffle iron.  Seemed like a good time to copy her idea and make my own low calorie, healthy avocado toast breakfast on my waffle iron.  It was crispy, crunchy and delicious.
Select traditional olive oil.
Spray butter Pam and prepare toast for flavor.
Get the avocados ready with favorite creole seasoning.
Cook toast in waffle iron to crispy brown.
Spread seasoned avocado and enjoy crisp and crunchy taste treat.
Another favorite waffle iron treat is my own invention Annie's All American Waffle Toast.  Scramble and egg and add milk.  Break a piece of wheat bread into the mixture.  Pour onto heated and treated waffle iron and cook for 3 minutes.  Sprinkle powdered sugar or serve with  margarine and low calorie maple syrup.  It is like scrambled French toast.

I am having a lot of fun cooking on my waffle iron and there are a lot of web sites devoted to recipes for cooking this way. You can use tortillas and cheese and lots of different mixtures.  I am thinking about ordering this book  Will It Waffle.  Do you ever cook things besides waffles on your waffle iron?

  1. Well I don't own a waffle iron, but your creation looks very tasty. I love avocado, but avoid having it too much as it's high in calories.

  2. We don't use our waffle iron. That shows how good we are. Mostly pancakes on days that we want a hot breakfast. I was thinking the other day I wanted a recipe for those light egg white waffles that a nearby recipe serves with their great soups. Now you have motivated me.

  3. That looks positively yummy! I do cook other things in my waffle iron. A great source for waffle irons (most unused) is thrift salvation army stores. That way I don't have to put one in my carryon when flying...

    1. KENJU, a friend called after seeing my post and told me to turn to the Food Network because they were showing demonstrations on things to cook on the waffle iron. It was a good show with some good ideas. They made a fried hash brown potatoes that looked out of this world!

  6. No waffle iron here either. Love avocado though. Loathe maple syrup. Way too sweet for me.

    1. ELEPHANTS CHILD, simply using powdered sugar over Annie's All American waffle toast is very good so you can skip the maple syrup.

  8. What a great idea! Our waffle iron is probably 75 years old, and someday I'll write about it. Never thought about using it for anything else.

Waffles with whipped cream is one of my favourites. When I was growing up my dad made waffles almost every Sunday.

  11. How funny, my husband was just talking about this. He and my son saw some great ideas for the waffle iron using brownie and chocolate chip cookie batter and more. You've inspired me to experiment.

Thanks for the shout out! And I'm glad you liked the avocado on toast. So good. I have two that are waiting in the wings in the fruit bowl.
