Question Of The Week 12-8-14

  1. 1995 bronchitis that turned into pneumonia . lasted 3 months and damaged my bronchial tubes..

talk about a miserable winter- but I am very grateful to have made it through that.
I am also very blessed that , thats the worst thing I've had. compared to what other folks have been through, its nothing

    God Bless Us, Every ONE

  2. The sickest i've been is going on right now..... that is the racial division that our government is reving up so brilliantly. What can it possibly achieve in the end? It makes me sick at heart that people can't live in harmony.

  3. SONNY G. This happened to a good friend of mine last winter. It was unbelievable how she went from what seemed to be a cold to being out of it for over one month. You too probably ended up with some heart damage. Bless your heart.

  4. MANZANITA We must live in harmony as individuals on a day-to-day basis and not let the media convince us that we are a nation of bigots. Take note of how things are in your own life setting and how you open your arms and heart to tolerance and feel better.

  5. ARE YOU SEEING WORD VERIFICATION WHEN YOU COMMENT ON MY POST? I AM NOT USING IT AND DON'T KNOW WHY IT SHOWS. JUST IGNORE IT IF YOU DO.

    ReplyDelete
  6. you cant ignore t sweetums :) if you dont type what they show in that box you cant get your comment to go through.

I have heard several bloggers say this happened to them and they had to go back to settings and reset it for no word verification- click save and log out of their blog.. then log back in..

google/bloger is bent bound and determined to Track us, even when we say not to.

  8. An abcess on my fallopian tubes, fungus growing in my lungs and glandular fever all at once made me feel vile.
And nothing like as sick as I often feel at what humans do to each other (and the planet).

    1. You must be proof that what does not kill us makes us stronger.

  9. Glandular fever when I was a student, that developed into such a bad throat infection that my throat almost completely closed up. The look of horror on my doctor's face when he saw my throat didn't help either.

    1. Never good when you see alarm in the doctor's face.

  10. Touch wood, I've never been really sick...as in "sick". I did have a problem with my back in the early 80s that laid me low for a couple of months, but as for being "sick"...nothing much there, fortunately. I've not had a cold since 1998! And I only got one then because I was run down...my brother had not long passed away and it was a tough time.

Like Manzanita...I do get sick to death with all the disruption that goes on and is going on in our world...the behaviour of people....but I won't go on and on about that...

And yes...I am seeing Word Verification on your post. Same has happened to me...just this morning. Up until just now...(I've not long woken up and gotten out of bed - it's Tuesday morning here) and when I got into my own blog I found Word Verification...and I have no idea how it got here. I didn't set it up. And I don't know how to get rid of it.

  11. I was living on a small island in the South Pacific where the hospital was most useful for delivering babies or removing javelins from people..really. A place that was filthy and full of bacteria. I got food poisoning and could not eat or drink anything for about 6 days. I actually got to the point where I was willing to die just to get out of the pain! On the 7th day, I finally was able to hold more than a mouthful of water down. I really think I was close to death.

  12. Further to the Word Verification debacle...I went in to "Settings" and did the resetting and saving as advised by Sonny G...logged out and logged back in again...but to no avail...the Word Verification is still showing on my blog...so I have no idea what is going on.

Perhaps there has been an abundance of trolls...I know I've had a few that have posted unwanted, unnecessary garbage on my blog. They are very annoying. If it stops them, there is little harm in it.

  13. Side note: I think it's a snafu on Blogger's part because it wasn't there yesterday when I commented on one of my posts on my blog.

Anywho, back to the Q of the Week.

Sickest I've been had to be hands down last year during the week of my wedding anniversary. About a month prior my son decided to do a morning paper route, which required him to get up at 3a every morning. Suffice to say, I suffered severe sleep interruptus (bed at 10:30a, woken up at 3a, woken up at 5:30) for that time frame.

Collapsed from pure exhaustion/sleep deprivation and was out of work for a week (vacation for two, sick for three more).

  14. Is it always the last that seems the worst? Bob and I are still hacking and it's been week and a half. We're ready for wellness any day now!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Spent 21 days in the hospital when a surgery went bad. I was so sick I requested no visitors for a week.
Yep, word vert is still there. Try resetting. Now I'll go see if it is on my account.

After my son was born. I had a bladder infection and went to the doctor for a urine spec. They lost it. 2 days later I am very sick, fever of a 105. Went to the doctor and had another urine spec. They lost it again! Another couple of days went by and I was laying in bed with my son and the room was spinning. My mom said I was hallucinating but I don't remember. My mom and dad rushed me up to E.R. (which I don't remember). It had gone into my kidneys and it was turning septic. I was put on massive doses of antibiotics intravenously. The doctor said that if had gone a few more hours I would have likely needed to go on dialysis and eventually needed a transplant. It was in intravenous antibiotics for 10 days. All this while having a newborn baby.

  17. You can probably remove the dreaded WV by going to settings and changing your comments to embedded.
So far this glitch doesn't seem to have affected those of us with that option.

  18. I have had the flu several times over the course of my life and that is as sick as I ever want to be. Knock wood.

I have noticed that loads of blogs that never had word verification now have it. If it is on my blog, somebody let me know.

  19. It's a tie. The sickest I ever felt was when I was talked into drinking whiskey and eating Oreos at the same time, when I was 21. Yuck. Still can't do either one.

But the most dangerously sick I have been was in Afghanistan, in the Peace Corps, out in the boonies far from medical help, when I got a fever of 105. There was nothing to do except get over it the old fashioned way: time and luck, plus lots of boiled water. I was very sick, and never told my parents.

  20. Yes, there was WV, but it was only a 3-number easy to read thing, so it didn't bother me. Still, I wonder why it showed up.

    ReplyDelete
  21. AND you're right! One can ignore it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I've never been really really sick, knock wood. Had bronchitis once that my MIL cured with the mustard plaster from hell.

    ReplyDelete
  23. this, you know...the tumor that was removed with all its complications, that i am unsure if i have yet recovered from

    ReplyDelete
  24. Pneumonia for me too...Was under a doctors care but not getting better and went to the ER.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Think it was about 8 years ago after my niece's wedding. I was throwing up for 2 days & nights. Have no idea why. Think I'm lucky that's the worst when I see other people's afflictions.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I ignored the word verification & the post is showing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. As a child when I had the measels.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You mean physically, or sick in the head? ;)

(You already know the answer to both of those!)

    ReplyDelete
  29. LEE, you set me on a search when you said "touch wood". I looked for the origin of that and our common phrase "knock on wood". It seems your use is the oldest. Both come from a desire to please the gods and spirits that dwell in trees to appease them and assure us of our continued good fortune. Actually there are about a gillion explanations.

The loss of a brother would drive most of us to debilitating illness.

I gave up on the word verification stuff. What will be will be...the gospel according to blogger. LOL

  30. TABOR, I am afraid the "removing javelins" is going to take a bit of explaining. What the heck?

    ReplyDelete
  31. G.B.MILLER, I have to know if you made your son give up his paper route.

    ReplyDelete
  32. BARB, I know exactly what you mean. I too am recovering from something awful. Hope we all get back to 100% soon.

    ReplyDelete
  33. ARKANSAS PATTI, it seems WV is on almost everyone's account. Who knows what is going on.

I truly sympathize about your problems in the hospital. Two years ago I went in for a robotic hysterectomy and would have been fit to go home the next day except for the fact that I had a heart attack while in the recovery room and wound in up in the hospital for five days with two new stents.

    ReplyDelete
  34. DITCHINGTHEDOG, too many stories related to the failure of medical providers. Very scary and so happy all turned out well for you and your newborn.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ELEPHANT'S CHILD, nothing seems to work so I just gave up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OLGA HEBERT, and the flu shots seem to be of less and less value in combating the ever changing strains of flu. Yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  37. KERRY, whiskey and oreos??? What were you thinking?!

    ReplyDelete
  38. BRIGHID, my first MIL cured a sinus infection of mine with a remedy from hell. Wonder if they were really trying to help us or kill us?

    ReplyDelete
  39. BRITE MIST, you are amazing despite your horrible ordeal.

    ReplyDelete
  40. WINIFRED, I think I too am feeling less trauma over things that have happened to me after reading the comments of others.

Ron and I had not known each other very long when I got a plague much like the one you described. I'm talking erupting from both ends. And this man took loving care of me so I knew then he was THE ONE.

    ReplyDelete
  41. CHANGES IN THE WIND, too often that is the story. We have to know our own bodies and take matters in our own hands like you did heading for the ER.

    ReplyDelete
  42. MUNIR, sounds like you have escaped worse illness but know measles can be very dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  43. RIOT KITTY, yes I do know whereof you speak.

    ReplyDelete
  44. My memory is haphazard these days
but all I can remember is becoming suddenly ill and dizzy in my shop. My partner - alarmed - drove me home, I went to bed and my son- then about 14 said he felt helpless - he had never seen me ill before. By 8pm I was eating a boiled egg and was fine next day. Still don't know what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If embedded comments doesn't work for you (or you don't like them) at the moment you can ignore the word verification and just hit publish. It works.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It was when a gallbladder attack was misdiagnosed - first as acid reflux (seriously - does acid reflux involve throwing up?) and then was sent home after I showed back up at the doctor's office with yellow jaundice. They had scheduled a CTscan for later in the week. I ended up back in the emergency room the next day - they said my potassium level was so level they don't know why I hadn't had a stroke already.

I couldn't get rid of the word verification thing except to do allow embedded comments (which I don't really like.) I had WV switched to off, but it was still allowing it for some reason. Just crazy.

I like that Sonny calls you sweetums. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Appendicitis or gall bladder...either was a good bottom line.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hi again Annie...I'm like you - I go off in the land of Mr. Google...searches triggered off by the slightest thing...but it's great...so much is learned and I love being lost in the land the Web.

I did learn how to get rid of Word Verification (by going into Settings - Comment Location - and click on "Embedded"), but by doing so I lose this particular layout for comments...and as well, as soon as I got rid of it...I received one of those unwanted, unwarranted comments so I switched back to word verification.

It really doesn't bother me - and I noticed that we can still post a comment without using it, even though it shows!!

  49. I have had surgeries I have been sick after and some bronchitis. Now sure I have one defining sickness. YOU?

    What about you, Annie?

  51. This would be when I was teaching. I had pleurisy. It was so painful every time I coughed and I couldn't stop coughing. Once I retired I never got as sick.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Probably glandular fever when I was in my early 20s, but I live with a life long illness too, doesn't make me feel ill as such, but has meant I've had to modify my way of living.
