ON THE ROAD TO EERIE

Question Of The Week 10-21-13

Tell us a strange, spooky, or eerie event that has occurred in your life and cannot be explained?

  1. some of the most spooky changed in my mind to less over time, but perhaps after prom night myself and date and several others visited a "haunted" cemetery, where my date began acting very strange. That was actually scary.

  2. My grandmother was one of several children in her family and she had a framed print that she loved that her father gave her when she was a teenager. It's cute - of a loving couple in a horse drawn carriage with an impatient (early) automobile driver behind. I think part of her love for that print was that it made her feel special within a crowd of other siblings. She always had it hanging above her bed, even at the assisted living facility where she lived when she passed away.

So when she passed away in 1988, my dad asked if there was anything of hers I might want. I asked if I could have that print.

So I hung it in my bedroom one evening after I got home with it, across the room in a sitting area, in which at the time there was a creaky wicker chair. The chair faced the print.

The next morning, I woke to the sound of someone settling down in the wicker chair. It creaked just as it did when I sat down in it. I opened one eye and then the other - heart pounding. No one was there, but I knew my grandmother had come by to visit her print. (There were no animals or other people living with me at the time.)

  3. I've had quite a few when I look back...some too long-winded to post here. But the eeriest of all was my "ability" to sense when my brother, Paul, was going to have an epileptic seizure. Didn't prevent them, (eventually, when he was around 19 they found a good medication and he lived relatively seizure free) but I was always able to make sure he knew one was imminent and that he was in a safe place when they happened. Don't know how or why, but it's definitely the most unexplained thing I've ever experienced.

  4. For those who believe, no proof is necessary.

For those who don't believe, no proof is possible.

I'll believe if I ever see proof... still waiting.

  5. When I was little I could see people's auras but I didn't know what they were at the time or even that there was anything unusual about it. I can still see them now but I have to be in a place of peace within myself.

  6. My mother's violet bloomed on the day she died though it waited 8 years. I had moved it from PA to CO with me and had given up that it would ever bloom again. I felt her smiling at me through those purple blooms.

  7. I could write a list as long as my arm of weird happenings that cannot be easily explained. Most recently, I had a run of finding dimes, everywhere, sometimes two at a time. I had been having some financial worries. I believe it was my guardian spirits' way of showing me that they can send me money if I need it. Once I got the message I stopped finding dimes. I keep a couple of these special dimes on my bureau and another two in my purse, as a reminder that I'm being looked after.

  9. When I was about 12 yrs old my mom had made a lemon pie with a meringue topping. She placed it on our kitchen table and then Mom, my sister and I left the house to go to a store about a block away. The house was locked with no people or animals inside. We were back shortly and it looked like someone had taken a spoon and scooped the meringue off in a perfect ring close to the crust all the way around the pie. The meringue had not shrunk away from the edge, unless it did so in a perfectly scalloped way. You could see the shape of the spoon in each scoop all the way around the pie. No dirty spoon in our sink, nothing else disturbed n the house. My mom blamed me (the youngest) even though I pointed out I was with her the entire time!

  10. My dad died in LA on January 30, 2003 around 4 pm.

He was divorced from my mom who lived here with us in GA since 1975.

My mom died January 30, 2003 around 7:15 pm.

I was with my mom when I got the call about my dad two thousand miles away.

What are the odds of that I kept thinking...

  11. Oh gracious! The Halloween spooks have robbed me of my memory. I can't think of anything.

  12. To everyone
First of all, I failed to form my question properly so forgive the "question mark". I could correct it, but am too lazy and know you guys forgive me.

Taking your prom date to the cemetery? I would have started acting weird too.

    Lynn
That is a lovely thought that she was visiting her favorite print and her granddaughter:)

    Talon
Wow, I haven't heard of human animals predicting epileptic seizures.

You can't see proof unless you believe in the impossible.

I have not viewed auras in many years but there was a time I believed I could actually see them. It drove my children crazy as I made them stand still in front of a blank wall to view theirs.

    Barb
That is awesome! Was it an African Violet? I have heard of them never blooming until a sudden special moment.

    Sparkling Red
Your dime and my half dollar – definitely spirit signs:)

    Riot Kitty
No, go for it. Give us a list.

    Aunt Betsy
Now that is eerie. Not only is it a good story but it made me hungry for lemon meringue pie.

    Chatty Crone
Unbelievable! Was you mom still in love with your dad?

    Kay
Ask you mom. I'll bet she has some stories:)

  13. I used to feel the back of my chair being pushed gently forward as I was driving in the car. Now I have a new car and it never happens.

  15. One day in late July 2004 as my dad was slowly passing away from pulmonary fibrosis I decided to walk to the store to get a gallon of milk. I get a phone call from my wife telling me my father passed away.

When I get home, she informs me that sometime prior to getting the phone call, she said my daughter ( she was 3 at the time) said to her that grandpa had passed away.

Innocent children seem to be more in touch with the universe.

  17. Interesting posts. I agree with Cube, for the most part. But my dad had a special flower, an angel trumpet. After he passed away, it bloomed on the day we put his house up for sale, the day we closed on his house and the day we went to see his gravestone. I don't think anything supernatural was going on, but it was hard not to think that it was Dad telling us that everything was okay with him.

  18. When MTl and I were apart for 30 years with no contact, each of us had two houses during that period with the same number, we were reunited on that date number and between us had that number of children. Five became a magical number for us and at our fifth meeting we plighted our troth.
