RECONSIDER THE SIGNS

We took this photograph at the cemetery in Iola, Kansas several years ago.

  1. What a startling sign. But then if the sign had said No Outlet or No Exit this also would have fit the situation. Healing. Slowly and slowly with each new day I am hoping.

Cute sign. I mentioned your name in my post today, Annie.

  3. Hmm...that is a little sobering, but I guess it tells it like it is.

  4. I wonder if those responsible for putting up that sign ever thought about the irony? (Rob)

  5. Tabor -- Love your ideas for alternative signs and you are so right, they are just about as bad. We were just passing through Iola when I saw that sign and made Ron turn the car around so I could snap the picture. Surely we're aren't the only ones who have seen this.

gigihawaii -- Thanks for you shout-out on your blog today and for the condolences offered by your other readers. I only met Olga a short time ago and greatly feared she might be heading this same direction. She loved her special man very much too as did our friend Pat on Past Imperfect. She is my trail blazer on how to handle such loss.

    Jeanie -- Yep, for sure:)

Rob and Monica -- Rob, I wondered the same thing. Surely they had to ponder the other options like Tabor mentioned above. Still it is probably a regulation. As you know the FB friends think I should send it to The Ellen show. lol

  8. Seems very inappropriate to me. Sometimes you have to wonder if people think before they do these things.

  9. Wonder if that was planned or just happened. Funny either way.

  10. Kind of cute in a way....

  11. Very funny - you should send it to someone on TV.

  12. Did I send you the one with the sign that says "Cemetery -1 mile/Recyling Center - 1.5 miles." ?

  13. Reminds me of a sign on our main drag directly in front a traffic light.

    "No stopping or standing"

  14. Well, nothing like calling a spade a spade.

"Every blade in the field, every leaf in the forest. lays down its life in its season as beautifully as it was taken up." Henry David Thoreau

These are words I take comfort in everyday as I convince myself that death is just as much a part of life as birth.

  16. I also wonder if the people who put up the signs even wonder about what they're putting up for all to see.

  17. Oh gosh! I wonder what the guys were thinking when they were putting up the sign.

  18. That's really funny Annie. It's a wonder people didn't complain though.

    Hope you are keeping well.

  19. Oops.....well said ;) (no pun intended..)

By the way Annie, thank you for your comment at my blog ;D About the living condition in Italy, this is my second visit to Italy including Rome the last being in 1990. I must say it is a refreshing change...the people are much nicer and we were not harrassed by gypsies at all as compared to the visit in 1990.

A very pleasant time to stroll along the streets and I think it is lovely.

  21. That seems a little thoughtless, but also a little funny. :)

  22. Granny Annie,
Saw your comment over at Cube's place and just had to see that "Dead End" sign posted next to a cemetery.

Now, THAT'S funny -- I don't care who you are!
