  4. That is so cool. I know how proud you must be. I know what those bylines mean. Years ago (many years ago) I wrote a weekly column and feature stories for the Oklahoman.

  9. LL Cool Joe -- We are proud of Dillon and excited for his future success:)

Munir -- Oh yes, grandkids are the best!

Talon -- Leaving a trail of buttons everywhere I go:)

Jeanie -- So you attended OU. You are an Okie indeed. I'm OSU however and also an Okie heart and soul.

Chatty Crone -- Proud, proud, proud.

Riot Kitty -- The thing about Dillon is he doesn't get real excited. He is almost like it is an every day thing. I believe he is so busy that he's just glad to finish each assignment and get all his other stuff done as well.

Belle -- It is Dillon's victory but you would think it was ours too. LOL

Tabor -- Extra super special deluxe cool!

  14. Good for Dillon! i wish him the best of luck-
That's a tough field to be in now, So many papers closing down. The Boston Phoenix folded here just this week.
Lucky for your Grandson Sports writers are always needed n if not on paper, than at least online n always for local folks n teams.

  16. Rob and Monica -- Thank you Rob:) It is great.

Charlotte Crawley --It is special yet often we do not even pay attention to the byline. I guess if the article is that captivating it speaks well of the writer.

Kay -- You're such a good cheer leader.

Snaggle Tooth -- He has been interested in sports his entire life and thankfully he likes everything. Hopefully this diversity will serve to keep him involved through any medium. We too see local papers falling by the wayside as magazines grow thinner and thinner.

  17. Wow!!! That is wonderful and a good headline, too. (I am a failed journalist, but I recognize a good one when I see one.)

  18. ashok -- Thank you. By the way, I cannot open your latest post for some reason. It says page not available???

Lynn -- I do not have any journalistic ability. Perhaps Dillon is channeling his great-grandfather on his mother's side who was a renowned sport journalist. They never met but I'm sure Dillon was somehow inspired.

  19. Your Grandson surely has what it takes. Well written article. It tells the story of young people making some daring shots at the big time just like the writer.
Congrats! I'm pretty sure you've rubbed off on him. c

  20. Cliff -- Thank you so much. He is really getting the hang of this writing. He spends his life on ESPN. I might have helped inspire his writing but certainly NOT his interest in sports. I am a sports dummy. All of our grandchildren enjoy literature both reading and writing:)

  21. JeanMac -- Exactly. Exciting!
