MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MOOOOONEY!

Question Of  The Week 10-15-12

$1,000 Smack-a-roos

If I gave you $1000 and told you that you
had to spend it today, what would you buy?

  1. A new stove. But the first thing that popped in my head was it should go in my savings account, then I read the "had to." :)

  2. The sensible side of me would buy a new pressure washer for the garden and car. The less sensible side would spend it on new caps and clothes of course. ;)

  3. Lynn -- Notice I underlined "had to" just for practical people like you:)

LL Cool Joe -- Hum, we need a new power washer too so I wouldn't let Ron know about the $1000 because that would be his choice.

  4. Half would be spent on new music that I've enjoyed for the past few years and the other half would be spent at a used record shop acquiring all the music that I'd enjoyed while growing up (and as an adult) but didn't have the money to buy.

  5. I'd buy the new pellet stove and have it installed, that I've been looking at for almost a year.
I like the thought of an alternative heat source in the event the power went out during the winter months. I've read I could also heat food on the top if cast iron skillets or pots were used. So we'd also be able to prepare food for ourselves and any neighbors who were also without power.. I have a charcoal grill for this purpose but staying in the warm and cooking is rather appealing.
So, pellet stove and some ironware would be my purchase.

  6. G.B. Miller -- I never have enough access to the music I love. I might buy Sirus Radio for the house and the vehicles.

Sonny -- My first thought was $1000 wouldn't be enough but then I remembered you are the queen of bargain shopping:)

  7. Changes in the wind -- That is one thing I thought about. I'm one of those wishy-washie shoppers who cannot make up her mind. Maybe the new 5G iPad.

  8. Hi Annie ~~ Probably a new gas stove as mine is a bit shabby and worn. Or blinds for my room.
Thanks for your comments and I will pass on the specimen jar thank you. I really enjoy water first and lemonade second. I meant I would try to enjoy the experience of Leonie and me having a coffee instead of doing the shopping and getting it home to unpack and put away

Glad you enjoyed the helicopter rope joke and it is an easy one to remember.

    Take great care my friend

  11. I would the wedding dress my daughter wants that she tried on today. There is somewhat of a sad story behind this, but that's what I'd do. It costs 1200. I'd throw in the $200 or else try and talk the shop into a discount. I've already tried to find it on ebay and craigslist.

  14. I'd donate it. If I had to buy something, I'd buy a plane ticket to London.

  15. Easy question for me. I bet Little Truck repairs could easily eat that up in 1 day! Muffler, Shocks, plugs, rust removal, new tailgate, dent popping, new spare tire, On n on! Oh, n a fill-up- which I normally can't do. Before that, I need a new vhs n dvd players!

  16. Gosh....I don't spend $1000 in day but since you are giving it to me...I'll top up and buy a plane ticket to USA and visit you & family :D

  17. I'm a bit stymied because I'm not sure what that is in pounds.
I would spend it on a get-together with our quartet of elderly ladies - one of us is now in Cheltenham. I would book a hotel for a night's celebration and use the rest of the money to supply a chauffeur driven car to transport us all.
Oh is it not really going to happen?

  18. We just bought a flat screen TV... I can't think of anything else I need right now or even anything I want more than putting it in the bank. I know, I'm boring.

  19. Merle -- Well maybe you could pay for a helicopter ride with a few fellows:)

Bonne (BIZ) -- Buy a ticked to visit my other "Bonnie" Blogger in Florida. Take the dogs with you cause she loves dogs.

Munir -- How good of you to buy the same for your neighbor.

Seriously Though -- Those wedding gown blues seem to strike us all at sometime. Hope she gets the one she wants.

Chatty Crone --We got a bargain price on both of those items so I'm sure you could get then for the $1000. Still thinking I would upgrade my cell phone or get an iPad.

Cliff -- Isn't it amazing how quickly seed and feed can empty our pockets?

Riot Kitty -- Yes and we all know where you would donate it. I guess that would be spending it today.

Snaggle Tooth -- Truck repairs can suck up that much money easily. Love your altered portrait on you blog today!

Shionge -- Come on Betty, we'll roll out the red carpet.

Pat -- If I gave you the money for that expense I would have to go along. Sounds like fun. No problem anyway because I lost most of the imaginary thousand to Los Vegas Solitaire on my computer today.

cube -- Nope, no bank account allowed. You have to spend it on something. Guess you'll have to get a second flat screen tv.

  20. Oh my gosh! This really got me thinking. $1,000. Isn't enough to go crazy over and buy a house or anything. I would have to be really careful with it. I guess I would use it to see my son in Baltimore or help him with the horrible college costs. Actually $50,000, would be really helpful now. Sigh....
