MOVING ON UP...OR DOWN

Question Of The Week 09-17-12

If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why?

  1. I'd only move if I really had to because of work. My whole family live nearby, including my parents, and I wouldn't choose to move away from them.

  2. But if you "had to" Joey, where would you go??? Don't make me keep repeating myself

  3. If I HAD to move - maybe Scotland. I loved it there and until I opened my southern mouth, they thought I was a native (it's that whole family heritage thing, I guess.)

  4. Not gonna make you repeat yourself- AGAIN lol..
I dont want to move but if I had to, I'd go to Tenn. I have been there 100's of time for business and pleasure and the folks as well as the feeling in that state would suit me just fine.

  5. Good question.

Considering where I'm from and what I can see and enjoy, I would want to move to either another state in New England or the Northwest/Mountain time zone region

  6. Boston, near my other grandchild. Second choices between France, Spain and China.

  7. Lynn -- I am Scotch-Irish and am Irish member of the McGregor Clan. If four McGregors are found together in Scotland were are all to be put to death. Guess I won't go there...at least now with three of my relatives.

Sonny -- It is good to know you can take a subtle hint:) Tennessee is a good choice if you can avoid the Nashville Airport.

G.B. Miller -- Can see why you wouldn't want to get far from your beautiful home.

Granny Guru -- My first choices would also be somewhere near kids, grandkids and other family. My choice outside the USA would be Australia, I think. The only place I've ever been outside the states in Canada. Was too young then to remember much about it.

  8. Well I have had the luxury of visiting dozens of countries and loved most of them. Certainly someplace a little warmer in the winter. Maybe Italy because of the great food, or Zamboanga in the Philippines because of the beautiful waters to swim, or Canada in the summer and Costa Rica in the winter. You asked!

  9. Back to California to be close to two of our 3 daughters and our granddkids. This is already in the works and hope for a transfer or we have to wait till Steve retires. And, we have beautiful, gorgeous summers here in Oregon but when the rain hits, living with the endless gray is hard.

  10. I have always enjoyed hearing about your farm and getting to know all of your animals.

    I feel like I know Slim,Chiclet,
David and her kitties,Nancy,Jed and Bob. Not forgetting Eleanor Hen or Mr. Gibson or even Jack Bauer..And RIP Ashenhurst.

So, I guess if I had to move, I would ask to rent a room from you at Nol Noc Estates...

  11. Before grandkids I used to think I wanted to live in Puerto Vallarta, but that would be a little too far away now. If I had to move, maybe I would just go back to Oklahoma.

  12. i wish to move to New Zealand! amazing country!

  13. I've moved so many times in my life that I'd like to think I've finally settled here in Alberta. But if I had to move to another province in Canada it'd be back to Nova Scotia on the east coast. Another country? Scotland for sure - home of my and my husband's ancestors.

  14. If I had to move within this country it would be to Texas. Into the country. They think like I do for the most part.
Austrailia for a different country for the same reason.
They'd shoot me in one of the coastal or inner city areas.
Wherever I'd go it would be like here, a few miles until you find the next human.

  15. Oh well if I had to, our house in AZ of course!

  16. Okay - this being a dream - I will believe Greece is wonderful - money and political wise - and I'd pick Greece - did you ever see Mama Mia?

  17. England, because I love it.

  18. Hawaii, if I could afford it (which I can't) and Rome, if $$$$ were no object at all.

  19. I wonder what the McGregors did to get in such trouble...
I was thinking Scotland too, or New Hamsphire, Maine, or Vermont, or Florida, or Colorado. Or the Western Part of the state with the other daughter. But like Joe, I don't want to move at all! That's why I haven't yet.

  20. I would move to Barcelona and embrace my heritage. I'd eat well and enjoy the guitar music on the streets...not to mention all the Johnny Depp lookalikes that speak my language. :)

  21. Tabor -- Yes, I did ask didn't I? LOL You barely drew a breath listing all your choices.

Marla and Steve -- I am like you, I would try to pick someplace near kids and grandkids. However if we "had to" leave here we would probably return to Kansas where we already have property.

Nancy -- Come right on and we'll launch the pontoon boat so you could get acquainted with the lake part of our property. Heck we'd let you build a little place of your own at the back with a lake view:)

Cliff -- Are you tall enough to be a Texan? Plus I can't remember seeing any pictures of you in a cowboy hat. I think you'll have to go to Australia. We also do not want neighbors too close. Wonder what that's all about.

LL Cool Joe -- There you go. I figured you would have said AZ the first time:)

Riot Kitty --I would love to visit England but not sure about wanting to live there. I am believing there are a lot more restrictions.

Kenju -- I can picture you in Rome more easily than in Hawaii. I have no idea why.

Snaggle Tooth -- Haven't you seen Rob Roy with Lian Neesan? The MacGregor name was banned from being spoken because of the uprising he led. It was Mary Queen of Scots is the one who proclaimed that any four gathered should be killed. Oh yes, I could go to Colorado easily.

Scarlet -- Of course you would:)

  22. Hello Annie
I'd be off to Ireland to join my ancestors or to Cyprus to enjoy the Mediterranean climate and the memories but both have political and economic problems so maybe I'll stay here in Aus (easier to see the family that way. Queensland sounds good but I'd have to return to Victoria when the hot wet season turned up tho'
    Take care

  23. Hard to say like Joe I'd only move if my family came with me.

I love travelling to different places & always promised myself I'd spend 6 months a year in Spain. I never did because of my grandchildren.

I do like it here in the North East of England even though the weather isn't brilliant. Not many places have an NHS like ours either and as I've been here 67 years, maybe I'll stay.

  24. Well, I've already done that. I've moved from Illinois to Hawaii to take care of my mother. I guess if I was going to move again, I'd move back to Illinois to be with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.

  25. Cathy -- You may have seen that I picked Australia because you are such a good example of the people living there:)

Winifred -- I think we are all pretty addicted to family. We actually bought our current home to I could be half way between my mother and my sister since they were the most stationery people in the family and everyone else moved around.

Kay -- Oh but KC must have wonderful stories of visitng grandma and grandpa and great-grandma in Hawaii!
