SOLD!!!

That's what the man yelled at the estate auction when Ron nodded for his final bid...the winning bid.  2008 Chevy Colorado LT, 39,000 original miles, one owner.  Oh boy did we get a heck of a deal. It still has that new car smell.  (I did feel sad for the woman Ron outbid.)

  3. I'm not familiar with the Colorado package but it looks the same as my 2007 and I love that one. Really comfortable to operate. Congrats to Ron for out bidding that poor woman. I'm sure she didn't cry too long. :)

  4. Lynn -- It had been advertised as 44,000 miles and when we got there they acknowledged an error. It only had 39,000 on it! Yep, it was not driven much.

Sonny -- The bidding got down to the two of them and they were actually bidding each other up in $25 increments when Ron finally added another $100 and the gal shook her head no and stopped. We had read that in excellent condition and with low mileage it should sell for about $16,800. Ron got it for well under that amount.

Cliff -- He's pretty cut throat when it comes to bidding. I would have felt so sorry for her that she would have gotten the truck. Someone followed him home from an auction once and told a sad story of why they needed the washer and dryer he had just purchased. They offered to buy the pair for the same price he had just paid for it. He offered to sell it to them at a profit (not moved by the tale of woe). They left screaming and cussing him out.

  5. Nice looking vehicle, as a part time Brit, (or am I a part time American), I don't know much about the vehicle, but it looks good!

  6. Now that's a great story about the washer and dryer. That would be like entering the Twilight Zone.

  7. Wow! Not only is it a great looking truck, but man oh man, only broke in after 39,000 miles. Now that was good bidding.

  10. What a great deal!!! Wish I had been there and had Ron bidding for me instead of himself, lol. I'm looking for a vehicle again. When Hut had his stroke we got rid of the convertible so we wouldn't have a payment with only one check coming in. So we are down to just Hut's truck. 2 seater, not enough room for family and you know how I am with family. So I am actually looking at buying a gas guzzling Expedition since there are 7 of us that need to be toted around. Your truck sure is a beauty and I know guys are really going to enjoy it.

  12. Hi Annie,

Ron does it again...He certainly has a talent for getting a good buy.

That truck is a beauty and I wish you all the luck in the World with it...

  14. LL Cool Joe -- We weren't all that familiar with it either but are glad we bought it.

Cliff -- Someday I'll tell the story of where Ron took me to see where we would live and you'll really think Twilight Zone. I actually ran away at first because there was a commercial size meat grinder on the porch.

Marla and Steve - If Ron sets out to win the bid, he usually does and still not paying much. He's got such a look of determination that they seem to back off thinking he'll never quit.

Changes in the wind -- Thanks! You sure have had some wonderful posts on Italy.

Talon -- It's easy to get a bit sweaty while you look around to see if anyone else in going to jump in at the last minute and then you hear "sold" and hope they mean you.

Bonnie -- We have really enjoyed our last two Dodge Grand Caravans and they accommodate 7-8 passengers easily plus get fairly good mileage. They are great for adapting the passenger seats to carry lots of building supplies, chicken feed, etc. We are keeping our 2004 van.

Pat -- It truly doesn't have a scratch on it...yet. My young goat Ashenhurst is such a pet I just know he's going to see me in the truck and jump up on the door. Yikes!

Nancy -- Thanks Nancy! Hope you are right. By the way, you've namesake kitten is doing well as are "his" unnamed siblings.

Riot Kitty --Sadly it was an estate auction and the previous owner was deceased. It seems he wasn't able to drive the truck much due to illness so that accounts for the low mileage. If known family members are bidding on items at an estate auction, Ron won't bid against them.

  16. Kay -- Thanks! It is a small truck but roomy enough for us and also very functional.
