YET ALIVE

Hello my friends.  Here we go again...another year in cyber space filled with wishes for health,  happiness, success and love.  We are entering what will only be a tumultuous year if we allow it.  Let's try to remember our common ground and the respect we share with open hearts and minds.

Welcome 2012!

Don't look tomorrow. Question Of The Week won't  resume until January 9, 2012.  Stay tuned:) Our college grandson is with us all next week.

  4. Happy New Year!

Had to Google the title of this post. I was thinking of the closing lines of The Journal of the Plague Year by Daniel Defoe:

"A dreadful plague in London was
    In the year sixty-five,
Which swept an hundred thousand souls
    Away; yet I alive!"

When I Googled it, I found lots of other sources, but I kind of like the idea of this being the end of a plague year. Between the droughts and wildfires, my part of the country had a tough year. We lost so many trees! So sad! Then my dear father passed away this year. So while my year was short of being an annus horribilis, I am hoping for a better 2012 for all of us!

  7. LL Cool Joe -- Can't wait to see what your daughters and partner have in store for you ij 2012.

Changes in the wind -- Where will 2012 take you guys? Can't wait to hear.

Rae -- I know you are looking forward to the Rose Parade tomorrow and seeing your grandson march with the Ben David outstanding band.

Susan Adcox -- Did now know about the plague. Thanks for sharing that research. I was thinking of the Charles Wesley Hymn, And Are We Yet Alive. Every year my minister father would talk about the importance of opening our annual conference of the Methodist Church with that hymn. The first verse is: "And are we yet alive, and see each other's face.." As he grew older and began losing his friends and associates it became more and more important to all of us.

Lynn -- Your "good things" posting has led me to try and journal everyday in 2012 with joyful thoughts. Love your delightful and always uplifting posts.

Judy (kenju) -- And that is certainly my wish for you as well. Are you enjoying your much deserved rest and how long before you are back to the grind? That is funny because you love your work so much it is far from being a grind.

  16. My New Year's Resolution (if I were to actually make one - which I never do) would be to take the time to COMMENT on all the blogs I visit. But then, if I took the time to comment, then I would have way less time to goof off. It's a tough choice, I'm just sayin'....

    ;)

I'm praying that your New Year is grand and filled with many blessings --blessings that are tailor-made for you - right from the heart of God!!

  18. Rachel -- It is a rare occasion that I give or receive hugs and when I do, it is heartfelt. I hate hugging people in church. You would not believe how many of those scrubbies I made last year during Ron's treatments. I gave them to other patients and medical perssonnel everywhere we went. You and I have a long history as fellow bloggers and I look forward to being in touch better in 2012,

Riot Kitty -- Ryan and I are having a ball and he is making me laugh lots. That's a good way to start a new year! I have confidence you will do your usual best to keep me laughing.

Nancy -- I wish you all the best in 2012 and all of NOL-NOC Estates wish you Happy New Year too,

Pat -- You have so much to share with every post and I look forward to your adventures in 2012.

Scarlet -- It worries me that your New Year will be even more fantastic and I just don't see how you take so much excitement. LOL Happy New Year to you.

Dianne -- I have always loved that Macbeth line. You and I are "balanced" on most things and primarily laughter. You do entertain me with you posts.

Snaggle Tooth -- You are in store for some great surprises yourself, I just know it. Happy New Year.

Deb -- I see the conundrum...goof off? comment? goof off? Yep, goof off wins every time.

Cliff -- Happy New Year and best wishes on all your tumultous-ness. I guess someone has to stir the pot. LOL

  20. In the new year, I want to learn more about keeping up my backyard flock of chickens. One way I'm doing this is by attending the Mid-Atlantic Small Flock Expo being hosted by the University of Maryland on February 4, 2012. I know that you and some of your followers may be interested in backyard chickens and so I thought that readers who happen to live in the area might want to check it out. They have all the details posted at http://carroll.umd.edu/ag/poultry.cfm.
