Transferring files to a new computer is like moving into a new home and trying to find the right place for everything. It is absolutely wearing me out to adjust to the changes but oh how I love this new place!
Cannot wait for all of my blog friends to start visiting me here:)
I'll have a glass of red wine, thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteSo you got a laptop? Pretty cool and very convenient
I have done that with a new PC a while back. It was more than confusing even though I paid the store to do the complete transfer for me. My old PC still sits on the floor next to the new one! Just had to stop by and tell you I almost wet my pants on your pun about "fowl language!"
ReplyDeletedid this recently also - cept i had a large back up "portable hard drive" which helped immensely!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you finding your home. sandie
ReplyDeleteLynn -- I just happen to have a new bottle of red wine ready for your visit. Yes, my monitor went out on my old laptop. It is so sad to lose my old friend Lappy Lou but this new one should be great.
ReplyDeleteTabor -- Oh so sorry to almost make you wet you pants!! (Not too sorry though:)
whitemist -- Thankfully I don't keep vital information on my laptop. Just pictures and correspondence and I move them often to flash drive so if I can't retrieve it all it won't be too bad.
Chatty Crone -- I keep hitting the "home" key:)
Congrats! I love our little netbook. I think it saved my sanity on the recent trip in fact. And it let me stay in blogland on the other side of the pond.
ReplyDeleteWhen I bought my new mac the Apple store offered to take my old computer and transfer everything across onto my new one, and I'm glad I took them up on their offer because I think it saved me a great deal of work and stress.
ReplyDeleteI hope you love your new laptop! My partner just bought an ipad which I'm looking forward to having a play with too!
Congrats- Lucky you! Good luck, but I'm sure it'll all go alot faster with the loading now...
ReplyDeleteI always back-up my doc files on CD periodically, n have the software CDs around to install- that's the part I hate.
Good for you...it will sooooo worth it.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new machine. I do really wish I pay a visit. Any chance how ?
ReplyDeleteRiot Kitty – I did not get a notebook. It really did appeal to me but needed dvd drive.
ReplyDeleteI really really really would have loved to get an iPad 2.
LL Cool Joe – My sister’s family all told me to get a Mac and my kids all told me to get a PC. I was torn. I do believe I am going to like this Acer Aspire. It had highest rating from Consumer Reports. It would have been nice to have my files all moved for me though.
Snaggle Tooth – I am having a terrible time figuring out the backup business. My computer is telling me to do a system backup first thing and to use three cds. I have tried and tried and am doing something wrong. Oh well, I have more important things on my mind…like blogging:)
Changes in the wind – My old laptop was failing me in many ways and I had to improvise my use to accommodate the problems. Now it is difficult to have a laptop that works like it is supposed to and I have to get over all my shortcuts, etc. LOL
Monalisa – You just did:)
are we settled in yet?
