  1. That is absolutely beautiful! My favorite find is a trunk 20 years ago. It's sitting in my guest room as a TV stand right now. It wasn't necessarily a cheap find, but I do love it.

  5. That is a beautiful piece. I guess I got a fairly good bargain this weekend. I got a silver mint julep cup for $20 - I thought it would be pretty on my bedside table with flowers in it. Something I absolutely didn't need, but oh well. :)

  6. Yep that looks like a bargain!

I've bought some cheap vinyl records in my time, that are now very valuable.

  7. Wow. You really did get a bargain. That is a beautiful piece. I don't have much luck finding bargains like that.

  8. That was a great bargain! I got a cast iron bell that is outside on a post. It's a medium size and I only gave $35 for it. The lady that had it said her husband gave that for it many years ago and he had passed on. It was sitting in her basement and she let me have it for what he paid for it. It was a good deal!!

  10. Oh how I wish I could find a bargain like yours. It's absolutely gorgeous!!!. The best bargain I ever found is salvation and it only cost me belief in Christ. Next to that would have to be the table, 4 chairs and beautiful china closet I got last summer, all for $130. I sure love deals like that. Enjoy your Armoire!

  11. Mr. RK would be drooling ;) He is a woodworker in his spare time and knows how hard it is to find something nice and solid like that anymore.

The best bargain...when I was 16, I found a silver cigarette case from the 1960s in a used clothing store. It was on sale for $15. I have used it as a wallet ever since then, and strangers have offered to buy it from me on the spot for as much as $100. I'd never sell it.

  12. The best bargain I ever got would have to be the free $240 brand-new banjo I got from Big Daddys in Boston when I was there buying a new guitar a decade ago. I they gave it to me after I complained the one I'd bought used from them online had a hunk of the frett-board wood missing, n was unplayable.

Have I mentioned I just love your questions?

  13. Dark wood is said to be out of fashion over here, but I have always liked it and to have such a useful item look so good is a bonus.
    Clever girl!

  14. Dear Annie ~~ I like the wardrobes you got for a bargain and the photos were OK. I am glad you liked the bird cage story that brought a tear.
The boy who returned the purse was wise to break the $20 bill,
Thank you so much my friend for your prayers and kindness for the laser treatment to crush the kidney stone.
I will be so glad when it is over.
Take care my friend, Love, Merle.

  15. You surely got my mind to racing about the *best bargain* !! The one that is the easiest to remember is my $5 quilt closet. It is a home-made cabinet....smaller than a fridge and solid wood with a few shelves and a small drawer in the bottom. My husband varnished it and it has housed many things over the years: afghans, quilts, books, doilies, tapes, cd's, dvd's.
The other thing is an old bread/pastry keeper in creamy yellow and green. It was 75cents at the thrift store and I saw one at an antique shop in Houston for $125. It goes with my yellow and green kitchen. (I LOVE to find goodies!)

Wow! That really is a bargain! That is gorgeous.
I purchased an old trunk for $25 bucks that we cleaned up, and is now used as our coffee table in the living room. It looks wonderful, and I'd love to know the history of that old trunk. Oh, the places it's been!

  18. You got a great deal.
I suppose the best deal I've ever gotten was Marilyn.

btw, I'm glad Ron didn't wake up and shoot your lovely piece of furniture with his shotgun. (you're a stinker)
We're back. I hope I don't find out we went right past your place on our trip.

  19. I can't even imagine how much that treasured piece is worth now!!

Mine has to be my dining table and chairs...all real thick wood for $25!!! I don't think they even make them as thick any more.
