SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING FRUIT BASKET

Last week Ron had a surgical procedure. Nancy, a dear friend of mine, brought us a basket of fruit and a small bouquet of flowers. Because I was with Ron, my daughter told Nancy that she would keep the basket in her car until she could transfer it to my car. Instead she forgot and took it home with her to Oklahoma City. Because the strawberries in the basket were very ripe, she and her family decided the humane thing to do would be to eat them. They also took mercy on the grapes and ate them as well.

My daughter brought her children for spring break and she delivered us our fruit. The remaining oranges and apples went into the refrigerator. Ron and I still had not eaten any of the fruit when the grandchildren decided to share a snack with the neighbor's horses. What could they feed them? Why not apples? Now I have oranges. We better eat an orange before they disappear.

However the goats are jealous of the horses getting those apples so I'm sure...well, you know...if goats like oranges they've got it made:)

  1. Glad to hear Ron came out of the procedure okay. Sorry to hear the fruit basket didn't fair so well. And I guess the goats have a perfectly good complaint since they didn't get anything. Guess you and Ron will just have to enjoy the basket. :)

  5. Bonnie -- What do you want to bet that someone will have to borrow the basket to carry something home in? LOL

Brown English Muffin -- At least what they feed the goats will be keeping it in the family. The horses aren't even ours.

Lynn -- We'll have to wait and see what the goats get. If we are lucky we might get the oranges for ourselves.

  7. Hope Ron is getting better now.

In our house it's always the same fruits that disappear and the others rot. Shame we haven't got any animals to feed!

  9. Ok, I confess... I told Chelle to eat the strawberries but they totally stole the grapes on their own. And I'm pretty sure that goats will eat everything. We were at the zoo yesterday and the kids wanted to pet the goats. One of the goats thought that a wastebasket looked appetizing and was eagerly chomping away before one of the workers shooed him away.

  11. Changes in the wind -- Do people steal fruit in your life too? LOL

LL Cool Joe -- If I don't have any fruit, the grandchildren want fruit. If I buy lots of fruit, the grandchildren could care less. It's not a win-win situation.

kenju -- Yep, I'm guessing we need another fruit basket. Good suggestion.

The Storyteller -- I am so glad you are blogging again. I haven't gotten over to see you yet, but I will so don't leave us again ever. Glad to know you weren't in on the fruit theft and that you don't condone the stealing of the grapes. You think it is funny to see the goat try to eat the wastebasket, you should see them try to eat my wigs. LOL

Chatty Crone -- Yes, a very nice gift and a very nice friend. Happy st. Pat's to you too. Plus today is my brother's birthday.

  12. Dear Annie ~~ At least the fruit went to your family and various other animals.
I am so glad that you liked seeing the mature bears. Their mama bear did a great job of raising five of
them. Take care, dear friend, Love, Merle.

  14. What a great story!
That would never happen here- we'd all immediately scoff the fresh fruit- who-ever had it! It's been so expensive, n all the little ones eat it-
I wouldn't mind an oarange either-

I know a neighbor who taught his dashounds to eat oranges!
