JUST SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS

My title "Just Say Merry Christmas" was directed at those who may feel PC'd to death on what is proper and acceptable. I am NOT saying everyone should say "Merry Christmas". I am only saying if you feel like a big ole exuberant MERRY CHRISTMAS then go for it and don't worry about political correctness. I love the sights and sounds and beautiful tradition of Christmas and hope it is merry for all who celebrate. I hope you view and appreciate my personal adaptation of the heading above for the season. Of course the clip art is borrowed but the photo shopping of my own artistic rendering of Christ is original.

  1. I have to ask - did you have an encounter with someone wishing you Happy Kwanzaa, Hannukah, etc? ;) What brought this on?

  2. Can I say Happy Holidays so that I include every single celebration?

  3. Bonnie -- Thanks!

    Bonnie -- Thanks!

Riot Kitty -- Nothing brought it on. My choice greeting around the CHRISTmas Season just happens to be "Merry Christmas".

Tabor -- People can offer whatever greeting they prefer. Happy Holidays is terrific if that's what you want to say.

My dad and I used to ring the bell for the Salvation Army when we were with our local Kiwanis Club. I always made it a point to say "Happy Holidays" and it was great to have my dear Jewish friends respond with "Merry Christmas to you and yours." My dad always said Merry Christmas and then he would ad "Ho, Ho,Ho" in his brilliant deep and wonderful voice. Why should we succumb to political correctness when we live in America, the land of the Free?

  4. I say "Thanks! Same to you!" Wishing me a Happy or Merry whatever!!! I take good wishes & return them from anyone anytime!
I think it's the Christian thing to do! (Then again, I'm Catholic and some people don't consider me a Christian so perhaps I don't count.)

  6. I usually say Merry Christmas. If I know it's another holiday for someone I will say Happy Chanukah or whatever holiday it is for them. Most people realize you are just trying to share the Joy of the season, not convert them to your belief. In PC world, Happy All That's December.... but in my world, it's Merry Christmas. Blessings to you and yours. Love and Light, Nina P

  7. I always say "Merry Christmas", it is the way I was raised and it is the reason for the season... I hope I don't offend anyone when I say it but that is what I say.... A very "Merry Christmas" to you too, Annie.

  8. Kay -- I never heard that Catholics are not considered Christian. Are you making that up?

    Yvonne -- thanks again:)

Nina -- I may be wrong but I have heard that Jewish people prefer you greet them with "shalom" and not Happy Chanukah unless you are Jewish also?

Anyone know? We could ask Sammy from "I think I can i think I can" but she has disappeared and I am so very sad.

Lucy -- And Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

  10. I'm with you on this one GA. My biggest pet peeve are stores who have half of their store decked out in red and green and gifts for Christmas in an obvious attempt to capitalize on the season and then go out of their way to avoid use of the word Christmas.

  12. Rachel -- Merry Christmas yes, and not Merry Xmas -- though I do understand that the "X" stands for Christ.

Cliff -- You hit the nail on the head. Red and Green so give me your money but Bah Humbug for the word Christmas. Yep something is very wrong with that picture!

Monica -- Glad you agree and thanks for your kind words about my artistic piece. And, yes that Sexual Relations cartoon has been around but like you,I love it!

  15. Annie, I absolutely LOVE your adaption of your header. Christ IS Christmas.

The man down the street and I always exchange Christmas greetings. I say Merry Christmas. He says Happy Romedan.

In reference to the comment you made on my cookie post. I said the boys SHOULD have enough to last them a week. That doesn't mean they will. LOL No, they are probably mostly gone by now.

    Wishing you a wonderful week.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  16. Amen!

I love Christmas. It's tradition, and a good tradition. Why end it?

Last Saturday, spent the night with friends singing Christmas carols. Had a blast doing it.

  17. Annie,

I grew up in the city and we had all kinds of ethnic diversity.

We all thought it very important to keep the Christ in Christmas and the CH in Chanukah!
