ONE IS SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER

Congratulations Grammie! You were correct with the answer 10,990 legs on the bus.

There are 7 girls in a bus. (14 legs)
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats. (1372 legs)
For every big cat there are 7 little cats. (9604 legs)
Bus driver is not in the bus at this time.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus? 14 + 1372 + 9604 = 10,990

The seven backpacks for each girl throw most people off track.

Thanks to the brave who tried this problem.

  1. Since I taught 5th grade for several years, I figured that I needed to get that one right...even though I must confess...I did receive a little help from my mathmatically inclined boyfriend, Dave.
    : )

Have a great day, Granny Annie!

  10. Marilyn was out on the porch and worked on a big doll house she's making and watched 24. I didn't. I'm working this afternoon and she's taking a nap. See!
I watched an episode of 24 while running an eliptical two years ago. I almost had a heart attack.

Did I say thank you for the link in your post from earlier...if not thanks so much..it was very sweet!

  12. I remember someone emailing me that math problem once. I hate math.

I visited Mary's blog. That is some freezing, snowy weather she has there! Great photos.
