Acupuncture Experiences

Inquiry: What do you think of Acupuncture?

We have a local wellness clinic and the acupuncturist (a friend of ours) came to our home on Thursday. She heard about my shoulder and wanted to give me a free laser treatment. I let her give me the one and she said I should have at least two more. The one did not seem to help.

Any of you ever had such treatments? If two more would help, I'm about ready to try anything.

  1. I can't wait to see what people comment about to this post...my husband has diabetes and arthritis and many people have recommended acupuncture!!! But I thought it was just needles...what's this about lasers?? LOL

  2. I am confused because I didn't know that acupuncture had anything to do with laser treatments. Acupuncture in specific situations has been proven by the medical community to work...but like any treatment, you have to have someone who is credible and safe and it doesn't work on everything.

  3. I was confused also because I had never seen a laser acupuncture work. It shoots laser points (like those little pens kids carry) and directs them to the normal acupuncture points. I can't imagine that it would do any good and I certainly didn't feel anything. If my medical doctor can't help me other than with pain pills, I might just have to give this another try or two. Meanwile, surely someone else has tried it.

  4. when i did temp work, one of my jobs was at an acupuncture clinic. it was totally packed all the time! they also had the herbal teas - which taste like hell. all the clients swore by it (the needles and the teas.)
i think it depends on the injury or the pain. if it's bone related, there's not much the needles can help with (one of the doctors told me himself.) if it's muscle or organ related, that's different. there was a lady there in tears of joy. she had been unable to have children, so as a last resort she and her husband decided on acupuncture. she was on her second visit. she told me that after her first she started cramping and stuff. she was so happy! i don't know if anything ever happened with her, but that hope she was given was pretty wonderful :)
i don't know anything about the lasers - but i guess it couldn't really hurt? could it? maybe you could opt for the old school needles....

  5. p.s. i have never done acupuncture. and just like anything, a lot of it could be the power of our brains. a lot of the people i saw were there as a last resort - and that can be pretty powerful. but like i said - it couldn't really hurt...
    :)
