TO EACH HIS OWN

My brother retired a little over a year ago from a successful 40 year business career. I believe he is the strangest retired person I have ever known. Regardless of all the electronic gadgets he still has attached to him, (cell phones, computers, laptops, etc.) he is attempting to lead a more domestic life. You heard about the pies he produced for Thanksgiving? Anyway....

I called my brother yesterday about some business he was helping me on. I could tell he was multi-tasking so I asked where he was. He was in Sam's shopping for Kleenex. I never knew anyone could be so preoccupied shopping for tissues.

He assured me he could talk and I apologized for interrupting with business question and he said "no problem". I stated my concerns at length and he listened (or appeared to listen) intently. Finally, I concluded my speech and my dear brother exclaimed, "Oh, what an ordeal!' I responded that is wasn't really that big a deal and he corrected me, "No, I meant shopping for Kleenex."

oh man. i hate when that happens. it's a rear occurence, but i hate when i'm going on and on and the person on the other end is not tuned in. bless his little heart, men tend to only be able to do one or two things at once.

I was in the grocery store in the feminine products aisle once and I heard a young man behind me say, "Which one of these do you think I should get?" I turned around to offer him my wise counsel and before I could open my mouth to dispense it, I saw he was talking on his cell phone.
Boy, did I feel silly!

My daughter calls me on her cell phone while exercising at the gym. Since she is usually on the elliptic (sp?) or the treadmill her breathing sounds like aa cross between asthma and passion.

ICSCN, was that a typo when you called it a "rear occurence"? LOL Janell, I have found myself ansering so many people only to realize they were on their phones that I felt like a real dunce. Maria, sometime I get my brother when he is walking in the mall and it is frightening for sure.

Does he really need to fret over a 10 lb. box of Kleenex? LOL

I hardly shop at places like Sam's anymore...maybe I should.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and sharing your thoughts. I love your painting!

I don't think men CAN multitask. At least not as well as women. My brother in law called on Thanksgiving and tried to chat while he was surfing Youtube. We came out on the short end of his attention. *sigh*

How can someone be preoccupied shopping for Kleenex? You buy the cheapest brand and throw it in your cart. That's it.

OGO, my experince has also been that men cannot multi-task but for some reason I'm betting zombieslayer can!
