MEN IN THE KITCHEN

Men play a bigger role in cooking these days. My brother made that lemon pecan pie for our Oklahoma City celebration. It was melt-in-your-mouth good. He also made a yummy chocolate pie. The cake pictured was chocolate rum cake purchased at a Greek festival but it did not come with Windex.

My newlywed nephew Mike and his bride cooked Thanksgiving dinner for her family in Chicago. Mike checked on his first turkey after an hour and a half only to discover he had failed to turn the oven on. Maybe when he's as old as his uncle he will be able to bake pies.

I do most of the cooking.

I think of my generation, the guys do a lot more cooking than before. The sad thing is, it's hard to find a woman who can cook decently.

You don't have a pic of the chocolate pie? I'm all about chocolate pies.

  4. Kenju, the report is my nephew impressed is new inlaws and all went well after the oven fiasco.

Yes SoLB, my sil appreciates my brother's cooking. My husband actually is the better cook in our home. I've never been very domestic.

Z, were you there? The chocolate pie was gone before I could photograph it. I was glad because the pecan lemon is my very favorite!

  5. I think men cooking is a very, very good idea; I keep trying to teach my husband to cook after he fixed me a dinner of FRIED BOLOGNA!! Ick. He does make a delicious root beer float, though.
I loved the story of your nephew forgetting to turn on the oven. It's amazing how many things can go wrong when fixing a turkey! God bless!

Windex.... ha, ha... I hadn't thought about that movie in a long time. I'd like to see it again for some laughs.
Turning the oven ON is a very important thing to remember.

  7. I still giggle when ever I see a bottle of Windex. Just another reason why I should drag out the cleaning supplies more often.
    The pie looks delicious.
