0,9,18,27 ......
since you must take some number z = xy - (x+y) only a subset of numbers are possible. take the numbers in the 90's for instance
99 -> 99 - (9+9) = 81
98 -> 98 - (9+8) = 81
97 -> 97 - (9+7) = 81

See every time you subtract 1 from your starting number (xy_new) you also subtract one from your second number (x+y_new). since y_new = y-1.
