THE EYES NOT THE AYES

Once in my voting history did I vote a straight party ticket. It was my first time to vote and not having studied the candidates, I pulled the lever for the whole slew running under my registered party ticket. One of the winning individuals in my selection ended up embroiled in scandal.

I then began voting for the candidate and not the party. I am proud to say that since that time, none of my forward selections have been found to be newsworthy of a front page scandal.

The two major parties of the United States are playing dangerous games with our country. We have persons now serving in Washington and in our state and local positions who are not only politically irresponsible, they are sexually irresponsible. They are acting out immature and corrupt scenarios on our dollars and we are allowing this to continue to take place for the sake of "party" rather than country.

We may not be able to serve in the military but we can still do our part to protect and save lives by taking careful aim in the voting booth. We must study the candidates and make our choices based on the "content of their character" rather than the color of their party.

That's my sermon for the week and it's not even Sunday!

P.S. If you are letting your spiritual leaders pick your candidates of choice, you best change your house of worship. They should be leading you down the path of good life decisions overall, but not leading you to which person or party is right or wrong for the job. Why have we forgotten separation of church and state? I strongly believe that any spiritual leader with "all the answers" is a dangerous person.
