M.H. (my husband) is retired military and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He does NOT ride a motorcycle. None of his friends who are Vietnam Veterans ride motorcycles. Only one of his many retired military friends has long hair and a beard, and even he does not ride a motorcycle. We go to reunions with clean shaven gentlemen who served in the military during the 60's and 70's.
Yesterday a bridge in Tulsa, OK was designated a Vietnam Veteran's bridge. The highlight of the ceremony we heard on the radio was the emphasis of motorcyclists representing the Veterans. You could not hear the speaker for the motorcycles rumbling in the background.
Nope, there is not a thing wrong with people who ride motorcycles, but why don't we stop stereotyping and start picturing Vietnam Veterans as everyday Joes and Josephines? The majority blend into society and I am sure many are like us and drive mini-vans.
