MAYBE 10

Question Of The Week, 7-31-17

If 100 people in your age group
were selected randomly,
how many do you think they’d find
leading a happier life than you?

Happiness is defined differently by everyone. Very specific parameters would have to be drawn regarding what makes one happy. That said, I would guess I would come out somewhere in the middle with just as many people happier or unhappier than I am depending on what time of day they were surveyed lol.
That's a hard question to answer. Happiness is a very subjective state. I have everything I need... but some extra discretionary income would be nice ;)

Thinking of Mark Manson's comments on happiness. It is fleeting. "Happiness comes from solving problems (Manson.)" I agree. So, maybe there are about 50 people happier than I am! I have PLENTY (more than most) of problems to work on solving daily!!! Christians believe that happiness comes from pleasing God. This, I can most assuredly grapple with daily. (Again, my pilgrimatic journey when it comes to this one is slow and steady...)

Zero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(LOL - how would I know?) I liked my answer tho.

Oh gosh, I don't know. Frankly, I am past trying to keep up with the Jones'. ;)

Boy, guess I would have to define happiness and I am sure with my group of friends it has become good health. I am guessing more than I think!!

No matter what our individual circumstances, we all have a range of unhappiness. I'm pretty happy overall and in that group of 100 there might be 10 who are happier than I. Of course at the age of 71 I might be confusing contentment with happiness.

I think a lot of people are happier than I am, but I'm not unhappy at all. This is a tough one. :)

Not too many I'd think. I lead a pretty stressless, contented life. It would be perfect if I could find someone to do my weeding for me:))

Tough question, I would say maybe 10

That is a how long is a piece of string question. It depends. Mostly somewhere in the middle, sometimes towards the top, sometimes (more rarely) in the depths of despair.

I'm not sure. We all have an unreasonable expectation of happiness that we want to match that of a novel, movie, or even fairy tale. Happiness is not something I feel on an immediate level, but looking back over my life I must confess that happiness outweighs the opposite.

Happiness is relative and hinges on things or events that make one feel good for however long or short a time. Weddings for example. I would think it might be easier to find out how many people are contented with their current lifestyle.

I have not a clue..

I don't even think I could venture a guess. I consider myself pretty happy and I hope the 100 people would be just as happy. (Rob)

I'm happy, I can't speak for the others.

I am really a happy and fortunate person. I hope everybody reading this is too.

That is a how long is a piece of string question. It depends.

Depends on the day. Depends on the hour. This past week I would have said 99 people would have been happier. Other times I feel so content and at peace I would say that I am happier than most.

WORDS FOR WEDNESDAY 7-26-17

Today is the day.  Hope you will participate.  Go to Mumblings for the prompts.  This is her last week in July and she has done a great job.  August words will come from River at Drifting Through Life.

Here is my story using the first six words:

dominant, carpet, magazine, duster, finicky, display

DEAR SISTER by Granny Annie

I am the baby sister. It is difficult to help my older sister because she is the dominant one. Still I knew she needed my help so, even against her protest, I headed to her home insisting I could give aid.

It was her job to take care of her husband. He was recovering from emergency surgery. I would take care of everything else. HA! It was not a pretty display as she tried to keep an eye on me and her beloved spouse.

She did not think my vacuuming of the carpet was correct. The magazine stand had to be positioned a certain way. She was a Swiffer user so how could I use a cloth duster?

Sis may have been finicky, but once we got a rhythm going, she was able to look after my brother-in-law and I was left to care for the home, answer the door, answer the phone and complete her computer work.

I am back home now and my sister misses me:-)

NOT SINCE 2003

Question Of The Week, 7-24-17

Do you smoke?

I started smoking at age 15 and had my last cigarette at age 57, just 15 minutes before my first heart attack.

No, I tried for a week when I was at uni, but never inhaled and hated it, and haven't since.

I started smoking when I was 13 and quit when I was 50. At that time I was smoking 2 packs a day and would wake up just to smoke. Quitting was super hard for me and it took several months before I felt some relief but it is so worth it now.

I smoked for a year or so in my mid twenties, stopped when I became pregnant and never picked it up again. The hubs stopped at the same time.

Never! Neither has The Golfer 😊 Odd ones out.

Haven't had one in years, miss them every day

I was a three pack a day smoker but quit in 1976 when I spent 3 weeks in a hospital on happy drugs recovering from botched surgery. Seemed like a good time to quit. Everyone in my cancer support group is a former smoker.

Just a little in college when I was so insecure. Thankfully I grew up!

Ditto what Tabor said.

No, never. I just didn't get the point. I was lookout for a few girls who tried it behind the sports shed at school and saw them get red faced, coughing and vomiting and just didn't see why anyone would voluntarily do this to themselves. I had smoking parents and many adults throughout my childhood were smokers too, so I knew it was something one would get used to, but I still never wished or felt the need to try. and have you seen the cost of smokes these days? Here in Australia?

I have to wonder how anyone can afford to smoke these days.

Was persuaded to try one when I started work but hated it. Nearly choked me. My dad smoked all his life & I hated the smell of it. It's lovely now you can go to public places & not have to move seats or suffer with the smoke.

No, I don't smoke

No, not anymore....I used to, and I enjoyed smoking when I did.

I'm not a "born-again-giver-upperer"...and I don't go around lecturing people about the pitfalls...the do's and don'ts.

I don't like seeing it being taken up by our young folk. Enough information has been given and is given out about the hazards for us to make up our own minds, but people make their own choices. It's not my place to make their choices for them. Rightfully, they can turn around and tell me to mind my own business.

The cost of cigarettes these days is through the roof. I don't know how anyone can afford them. I sure as hell couldn't.

Tried it as a teenager, but never inhaled so never got hooked. However, I do enjoy the aroma of a good cigar.

I used to. Gave up a few weeks ago. Don't miss them. I have a good laugh at the woman who uses ecigarrettes.

I did for years, but finally quit 14 years ago! So glad it no longer controls me, but now other folks smoking bugs me alot

WFW DELAY

Not sure if I will get to the Words For Wednesday this week.  I am helping out my sister. Meanwhile, you may go to MUMBLINGS blog for the prompts if you want to give it a try.  I hope you will.

Get this..."Yesterday I was walking across the downtown street. Obviously, I was moving too slowly for the oncoming car and the teenagers yelled at me as they speeded past, "Move old woman". I am devastated"

LATE NIGHT PHONE CALLS

Question Of The Week, 7-17-17

What makes you feel afraid?

Late night or very early morning calls most definitely. And when someone I love is unwell.

Yes certainly late night phone calls, and unexpected visits. Have a nice week!

That\s the one...those calls that wake you and it simply can't be anything good.

I really don't know...

Bad storms...

Those phone calls, all i can think of

So far we all seem to be most afraid of something going wrong with loved ones. I thought someone would be afraid of things that go bump in the night. Lions, tigers and bears...oh my. LOL

Something going wrong with loved ones, yes. And sharks. Fuck them. They are evil!

That my pets will out live me and not be properly cared for.

When my loved ones are ill.

I know my homes noises, so bumps in the night don't bother me, but unexplained loud crashing noises such as what terrorised my Angel (and me) are scary and since then I worry that it will happen again. It's a very uncomfortable feeling for me; I was never afraid of anything.

I'm scared of monsters ;)

only dying before I get to do more of my planned stuff !

People. :O
