LISTEN

Question Of The Week, May 1, 2017

What did your parents teach you?

  1. Values such as good manners; to respect others and one's self; not to gossip; to stand tall, stomach in, shoulders back, head held high and to look others straight in the eye. Not to lie. To have a sense of humour - to laugh; not to be vain...the list goes on.

And not to talk with my mouth full!! :)

Furthermore, I'm sure if my mother and grandmother were still alive...they both raised me and my now late older brother...they'd still be teaching me about so many things..

  2. If you want something you have to work to get it and a whole lot more.

  3. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

  4. My Grandmother always told me.....
    "Just say Thank you"

  5. Many things but mostly that when I did a job, I should be proud enough to sign my name to it.

  6. I was about to write what Olga wrote already. My mom stressed kindness.

  7. Lots and lots of things. One of the most important was that we had an obligation to contribute positively to the community we live in. The seed of my volunteer work, which I find immensely satisfying.

Manners. It was the first thing that came to mind. Be respectful and mind your manners. (Rob)

Mostly I learned what not to do, simply by not wanting to be like them. Never going into debt for example. Buy a lotto ticket only if you can afford one, but buy the groceries first. Always save enough to pay the full amount on the bills when they come in.

Good manners. Never look down your nose at anyone, for any reason. Never charge groceries on your credit card. Be kind to others. Give back to the community. Make your bed every morning.

  11. I would say a mixture of emulating and not emulating them. There are some values that they left for me that I like and there are some that they did which I try very hard not to emulate.
