LOVE/HATE CAUCASIAN MALES

Television is my source of entertainment these days.  Watched a special about SON OF SAM yesterday.  I was very informative and held information I did not know before.  This is the task force formed to catch David Berkowitz.

These are the women who were instrumental in the capture of SON OF SAM.
Cecilia Davis reported the parking ticket that was placed on Berkowitz car that led to his name coming into the investigation.
Wheat Carr knew immediately when they called to check on Berkowitz because her father had reported him before as possibly being the Son of Sam.

Did you ever hear of these women?  I had not.

Perhaps if the original task force had been mixed with a bit more diversity, the capture could have come more quickly.

My grandfathers, my father, my son, my grandsons all Caucasian males and I love them. Most were/are accepting of the views and ideas of women.  The male Caucasian bankers I worked with for 32 years were like the above task force.  One of my former bosses actually said to me,, "I like your ideas and I will present them to the downtown meeting, but I will present them as my own ideas because they will never move on them if they know they came from you."

I am too old to get my blood boiling again.  I am just thankful that the young men in our family are very accepting of diversity in the workplace and consider all ideas, no matter who presents them.

  2. Sigh.
Small steps are being taken (finally). Strides are needed.

  3. Glad the men in your family are more accepting. That's a wonderful thing.

  4. I knew men thought the way of your boss but never had one to actually put it into words. And he probably wasn't a bit ashamed.

  5. When I was nearly ready to graduate from college, I took a civil service test and scored high. I was at the top of a list for people qualified for certain jobs within the government. The problem was, I kept getting calls asking me to step down so my place could be given to a man. I was young and really didn't want a job where I wasn't first choice, so I did so several times until finally landing a social work job that fit me quite well. Those were different times than these (I hope...). I want my granddaughters to be considered equally if they have the same qualifications.

  6. Good for you to have raised caring human beings -- the most important job there is. And it is up to all of us.

  7. Some men have changed, or grew up being more accepting. It is sad that many i have to deal with daily have not changed. They make life very tough sometimes.

  8. "I like your ideas and I will present them to the downtown meeting, but I will present them as my own ideas because they will never move on them if they know they came from you."
I always hated that, like they all thought women couldn't think past cooking and cleaning. How many brilliant minds and ideas were lost to the world because of it?

  9. Perhaps he was being honest, but more likely he simply wanted to steal the credit that would have come to you. There is no excuse for this sort of thing, yet when I look back at my 55 years as a broadcaster (performer and executive) I realize I was probably guilty of many things that I would not do today. I was more hopeful about the times changing until the last 3 years when I realized that way too many people are still living in a very dark place-- and are proud of it. It's heartbreaking.

  10. That was just one incident. So many occurred in my 32 years. I sat on a board of directors and would voice an opinion with no response. Shortly one of the men would express the exact same opinion and he actually believed it was his own idea because no one heard me. The loved "his idea". At one point our bank was being pressed to hire it's first African American and the bank president said "we should have chopped our own cotton". There was a time my totals were under producing and at my review I was told the devil was in my life. Of course in all fairness, women are often our own worst enemies. At my first job interview after college I was asked by the HR female if we planned a family and then "what birth control are you using?". Little by little the times they are a changin'. Why didn't I say anything? Why didn't I speak out? Because I was supporting a family on my own.

  11. I wish I could get hold of the recipe that will stop my blood from boiling! Many things are making my blood boil...so I won't allow myself to get carried away...I may stop! :)

It's boiling today...caused by the continuous loud, roaring noise from motor bikes roaring along this plateau's roads..endless noise...every weekend.

Is disturbing the peace...causing unnecessary noise...no longer unlawful???

The closed minds and attitudes of many in the past were the cause of many past mistakes.

    Take good care, Annie.
